Last week I went to the exhibition at the gallery in London. It 1 really a great art lover but I'd read some 2 review of the exhibition in the newspaper which interested me. 3 some time before it was to 4 but there were plenty of people waiting 5 . Most of them were youngish, 6 in fact there didn't seem to by any middle-aged people there 7 . All of them were waiting 8 and I joined them in the line. In the end we 9 to see the paintings. Now, I must be honest and admit that all of them were 10 to me. Although I'd bought a catalogue (目录) and spent a lot of time looking 11 at each picture, I had some difficulty in understanding what the 12 was getting at. Finally, as I was looking rather stupidly at one of the paintings and trying to 13 if it was the right way up or not, an old gentleman came up behind me and started to 14 the whole thing to me. He kindly answered all of my 15 and we talked for over an hour. Then he said he had something important to do and 16 go, so we shook hands and 17 goodbye. I went around the gallery once more and I found that I now 18 everything much better and some of the paintings seemed really beautiful. It was only as I was 19 the gallery that I found out 20 the man was I had been talking to. His self-portrait was on one of the posters advertising (登广告)the exhibition.

In 1980 a report was published about what the earth might be like 20 years from then. The report was the result of three year's 1 .
According to the report, the picture of the earth in the year 2000 is not a 2 one. The world will be more crowded because the population will continue to 3 . The population could be as large as 6300 million, almost 2500 million more than in 1975. More people would move 4 cities, especially cities in 5 countries. Cities like Cariro and Jakarta probably would each have 15 million by then. Food production will 6 , but not enough to feed all the people. Farmers will grow 90% more food than they did in 1975, but most of the increase would be in countries that 7 produce enough food for their people. Little increase in 8 in South Asia, Africa and 9 . Poor farming ways are 10 large areas of crop land, changing farms into 11 . More farmland is 12 as cities become larger and houses are built. 13 will get worse as industrial countries burn more coal and oil. Much of the world's 14 could disappear as more and more trees are cut down. Energy will continue to be a 15 problem. The experts say their picture of the earth for the year 2000 may be 16 . They only carried forward the situation that 17 today. By changing the situation, by setting the problem, the picture can be 18 . There is 19 time for the nations of the world to work together on a plan of action. But they warned that taking too long to make decision would greatly reduced the 20 of success.

Education is not only the teaching and learning of 1 , but also the developing of a person's 2 .
Now liberal (开明) education has a great 3 on the world. Much work has been done to 4 better ways of teaching. Students are 5 to have their own thoughts and their own ideas when they have lessons which are often held in the form of group discussions. They are 6 guided to use the knowledge 7 . In liberal education punishment 8 exists. Teachers and students are just like 9 . The idea is of course a perfect one if it can really be carried. However, it only 10 in the imagination and will never be 11 . We must admit (承认) that children should 12 be guided properly. Just close you eyes and think how many students 13 in very hundred 14 will carry out the duties of a student if they are not 15 ? What is the use of advice only if it is not supported by a 16 degree of control and punishment? It is 17 for us to judge the success and failure of this kind of education now but from the bad behaviour (行为) of the children who are actually the 18 of 19 , we can see that something must be done to 20 these children.
