When I first learned to write in English．I ran into many
diffculties．The main problem was in that I always thought
in Chinese and tried to translate anything into English．
My teacher advised me to keep my diary．I followed her
advice and should put down 100 words or so each day．
Soon I began to enjoy talk to myself on papers I was
learning to express me in simple English．One day I wrote
a little story and showed to my teacher．She liked it
very much and reads it to the class．All said the story was
a good one．Their word were a great encouragement to me．
Dear Helen,
Thank you so much for your party at Christmas Eve．All
of them enjoyed it very much．We liked the dishes you had
cooked but we were happy to learn the English songs you taught
us．We hope you'll teach us a lot many songs in the future．
We're leaving from our hometowns to spend the winter
vactions．It seems that many of us are homesick after
being away from home for such a long time．What are your

I a summer night in a city in Taiwan,Mary was going
on her way to school happily then suddenly she felt
the road was strong shaking．The trees were torn up
and many buildings were leaning down to the ground．
Even a car was destroyed by falling buildings．She
was knoched down by a tree before she knew．Doctors
carried her to safe and she was settled down in a tent
for treatment．After some time,she had got over．Seeing
so much goods from Mainland China and other countries
sent there,she believed all the houses would be built．
Last month,I took bus to visit the Great Wall．On the way,two
foreigner stopped our bus for help because they didn't know how
to get to the Great Wall．Instead of offer warm-hearted help,many
passengers showed impatient．Some even shouted,“Leave them
alone!”and“Go on driving!”Thank to the kind driver and the
conductor,the two got on the bus．To my surprise,I find that I
was the only passenger who could speak English among over 20．
Which should we present to the world in 2008?Rude manners
and diffcult communicaton?Certainly not so．We must work hard
together．Luckily,we still have enough time improve ourselves．
I belive the world will see a new country and new Games in 2008．
I bought my wife a recorder for her birthday present．
At the party,she suggested that I unpack it opened and
put on some records．I set it up and it refused to work,
so I decided I would try to fix．Soon a crowd
gather to watch me,and I could hear all sorts of
helpful suggestions．All of sudden I realized the
problem and I felt very stupidly- I had not plugged
it in,but now I had to wait until nobody was not looking．
Before the music started,I heard someone say
to my wife,“your husband's a genius!He foxed it!”
Anne lives in a small town．She is fond of
surfing the Internet．In general speaking,she
spent about an hour a day on line．To her,it is
a wonderful place because you never know that
it may have in store for you．Last Firday,she
found an e-pat,that called himself“Future”．
They promised to keep touch with each other
and she was warned against him by her parents．
“What will it lead to?”she asked．“A happy ending,”
Anne answered and continued typing,paid no
attention to them．One month past,and a man
called“Future”was arrested by the police!
It is a plasure for me to write this letter to tell how much
I enjoyed my stay in your whole family last week．This was my
first visit to a English family．At first,I was worried about my
poor English．And when I saw your wife and children waiting for
me with warm smile of welcome on their faces,I immediately knew
that everything would be all right．There are many more happy
memoreies of the week that I will keep with me forever．I particularly
enjoyed driving through the countryside with you and saw the
changing colors of the leaves on the trees．I also like the
fishing trip．It was such much fun．
I was a high school student then,from low-income
family．So I have to work to support my family．My
first one job was to clean the tables in a small restaruant．
I still temember going there carly and felt anxious about
the new world．I worked harder because I was afraid of
losing the job．At night,I was sometimes very tired to do
my homework．And I came to understand that was not
easy to earn money,and that knowledges could change
my life．So what I leamed from the job,in a hard
way,was much more important as what I earned．
