We can see lots of ladies dancing in the square or open spaces after dinner time. It is a very harmonious scene 1        someone fires guns and releases his dogs 2       (threat) these ladies to escape, just because their music is too loud. Some people think this noisy music has 3       (serious) affected their life,so that the dancing ladies should 4       ( drive) out of public places. But I can't agree with them.

I have two reasons to support my views. In the first place, most dancing ladies are retired women, they finally have extra time to do something they like to do―get together to dance, make more new friends 5        share the same habit 6        them, and build up their body as well. As a matter of fact, some dancing lady is a loner without family members at home, and the dancing group is like their second home. We should not take 7        their right of dancing.

In the second place, squares and open spaces are public places;everyone can use them for any actions of entertainment 8        relaxation. If someone complains about the noisy music, they can go 9       (straight) to the dance group and ask them to turn it down. We don't have to solve this problem by an extreme way.

As a consequence,we cannot force the dancing ladies away, because it is a public place, and why can't we show some mercy10       a group of retired ladies who just need a place to dance together?

What is the secret ingredient of tough people that enables them to succeed? Why do they survive the tough times when others are overcome by them? Why do they win when others lose? Why do they soar when others sink?

The answer is very simple. 1       Yes,every living person has problems. A problemfree life is an illusion―a mirage (海市蜃楼) in the desert.

Every mountain has a peak. Every valley has its low point. 2       No one is up all the time, nor are they down all the time. Problems do end. They are all resolved in time.

You may not be able to control the times, but you can compose your responses. You can turn your pain into insult―or into poetry. The choice is up to you. You may not have chosen your tough time,3       . For instance, what is the positive reaction to a terrible financial setback? In this situation would it be the positive reaction to flee and run away? Escape through alcohol, drug,or suicide? No!Such negative reactions only produce greater problems by promising a temporary u solution" to the pressing problem. 4       When you control your reaction to the seemingly uncontrollable problem of life, then in fact you do control the problem's effect on you. Your reaction to the problem is the last word! That's the bottom line. What will you let this problem do to you? It can make you tender or tough. It can make you better or bitter. It all depends on you.

In the final analysis, the tough people who survive the tough times do so because they've chosen to react positively to their dilemma. Tough times never last, but tough people do. History teaches us that every problem has a lifespan. No problem is permanent. 5       Your storm will pass. Your problem will be solved.

   A. It's all in how they realize their problems.

   B. Life has its ups and downs.

   C. Winter always thaws into spring time.

   D. The positive solution to a problem may require courage to start it again.

   E. Storms always give way to the sun.

   F. but you can choose how you will react to it

   G. We should have a positive attitude towards temporary problems.

Recently a restaurant has become a hot topic which arouses a controversial debate. A man

runs a restaurant 1        any waiter and people who have dinner here can pay the bill as they want 2        If the customer thinks this meal worth 50yuan,then he can put 50yuan in the box. However,as the owner keeps losing money over 4 months, people begin to think this is the customer's honesty issue,3          I can't agree with it.

In the first place, the restaurant didn't name the price to each dish, which means the owner lets the customers evaluate the meal by themselves. So people pay the money for the meal that is always 4        than the owner's expectation. Leave alone the 5       (one) who don't pay the bill,as everyone has different values, and most people have no idea about the cost of the dish,it is understandable 6        customers pay less money than the cost.

In the second place, the restaurant has no waiter at all which makes the cost lower than a regular restaurant. The customers have to help themselves to have the meal, also they need to wash the dishes. It makes 7        reasonable that customers pay less money than the owner's 8          (expect) .

To sum up,this may not be the problem of 9     (honest) ,but the way of 10       (run) a restaurant. I believe most people pay their bills, but they just pay it lower than the cost.

It is a plain fact that we are in a world where competition is going on in all areas and at all levels. This is exciting.

People choose to learn things that are useful, and do things that are profitable. Today's college education is also affected by this general sense of utilitarianism (功利主义) .Many college students choose business or computing programming as their majors,1       .

It is not unusual to see the college students taking a parttime job as a warmingup for the real battle. I often see my friends taking GRE tests, working on English or computer certificates and taking the driving lessons to get a license. Well,I have nothing against being practical. As the competition in the job market gets more and more intense,2       .

However,we should never forget that college education is much more than skill training. Just imagine,if students' utilitarianism prevails on campus, living no space for the cultivation of their minds,or nurturing of their soul,3       . If utilitarianism prevails in society,we will see people bound by mindforged manacles (手铐) lost in the moneymaking ventures;we will see humility losing their grace and dignity, and that would be disastrous.

I'd like to think society as a carriage and people pursue for profit or fame as a horse that pulls the carriage. Yet without the driver picking direction,4       . A certificate may give you some advantage, but broad horizons, positive attitudes and personal integrities are assets you cannot acquire through any quick fixed way.

In today's world, the highest level of competition is not of skills or expertise, but vision and strategy. 5

   A. convinced that these professions are where the big money is

   B. the students will go in the opposite way and be trapped in dilemma

   C. We will find university is a place where competition is much more fierce.

   D. we will see university is training out welltrained spiritless working machines

   E. Your intellectual quality as well as personality traits largely determines how far you can go in your career

   F. the carriage would go straight and may even end up in a dangerous situation

   G. students do have reasons to be practical 1,        2.         3.       4.          5.

From different media, the articles which suggest people to use cellphones 1       (little) are very common. In modern society, radiation is not an unfamiliar word to most people.

Hundreds of experiences have been tested by scientists from home and abroad. 2       they still hardly tell the final effects, they could see the little change. So the common suggestions are using electronic products less. The cellphones are one of the3       ( close) radio control products around us. Everyone uses cellphones to contact,to record files,to get entertainment. The cellphones are more likely to be our best friends who can share our happiness and upset feelings.

4      ,every coin has two sides. As a radio control product,it has radiation which is 5       (like) to damage our health. So many people choose to turn off the cellphones at night. To tell the truth,it does good 6        health and it should 7       (recommend) to follow. But I think that it depends on different persons. For those who have to keep in touch with others,it is quite hard for them to say OK to turn off the cellphones at night. I am one of the people who do not turn off the cellphones. 8       (general) speaking I charge the cellphone all night. I am sure I am not lonely about this.

Although I cannot turn off the cellphone at night,in my mind 9          (turn) off the cellphones at night is very good. So I strongly encourage students, pregnant women,10       (retire) people. . . to turn off the cellphones at night.

Imagine this: You want to apply for a dream assignment abroad. There's just one problem. You need to grasp foreign language skills―   1       .

It might sound like an impossible task, but according to language experts, you can learn basic communication skills in weeks and master the basics of a foreign language in several months. Phrase books and online tutorials can prove useful in this early stage, experts say,as they can give you the vocabulary and the confidence to have basic conversations with native speakers, the crucial first step in learning a language. Indeed,2       if you are going to make progress in a foreign language, language experts said. This means not being afraid to take risks or make mistakes. Experts believe that total immersion is key to mastering a foreign language quickly. The more you immerse yourself in the foreign language, the more rapid your progress will be. Getting to basic conversational proficiency can be achieved in much less time, just several weeks, according to experts,3       . James North, associate director for instruction at the Foreign Service Institute, said students are encouraged to get to know native speakers. By conversing regularly with language experts or native speakers you have someone to check―and correct your progress. You'll need to ask those you speak with for feedback and 4       ,although experts say you need not worry too much about grammar in the early stages. As you learn,be sure to consume media in the foreign language.

If you are starting out, read illustrated children's books in a foreign language, experts advise. But beware lofty (远大的) ambitions. If you say you want to be fluent in two months,5       . But if your goal is to reach some level of conversational proficiency, that's entirely possible.

   B. you will likely be disappointed
