(Text 1)
M:I hope the weather is nice.I could go and play some golf.
W:I heard that the weather should be good. There's a possibility to rain, but it's not very likely.
M.Hopefully, we'll both have relaxing weekends.
(Text 2)
W:So I turn right at the traffic lights. Then?
M:Then keep walking until you reach the war memorial. It's a big statue of a soldier. You can't miss it.
(Text 3)
W:I want to see if my salary has been paid into my bank account. There was a problem last week.
M:And I have to pay my credit bill.If I don't pay it soon, the credit card company will charge me interest.
W:Their interest rates are usually quite high. It's a good idea to pay off your credit card debts before they attract interest.
(Text 4)
W:Hello! I'm trying to take a bath, but there are too many buttons.Would you tell nae how to use them?
M:I see.We have an explanation booklet on the table. If you follow the direction, it is quite simple.
W:I read it, but I couldn't understand it.Would you come to my room and tell me how to use them?
M:Oh, certainly.
(Text 5)
M:Well, would you give us an extra key to the room?
W:I am afraid we have no extra keys.So I will send somebody to your room.
M:By the way, what should I do with the key when I go out?
W:Please drop it at the front desk when you leave the hotel.
(Text 6)
W:Hello, is that the housekeeper?
M:Yes, may I help you?
W:This room is 117, and we have just checked in.
M:Yes?
W:Our room hasn't been cleaned up yet.So would you send one of your cleaners to clean our room?
M:Oh, yes.Madam, we'll come right away then.Your room number and your name, please?
W:Our room number is 117 and my name is Terry Chen.
M:Thank you. Please hang up and wait.
(Text 7)
W:WelI, we've been waiting for our luggage for about one hour.
M:What kind of bag is it?
W:It's a blue bag.
M:What is your room number and your name, please?
W:This is Room 1025 and my name is Merry Liu.

(Text 8)
W:What's your apartment like?
M:It's a furnished two-bedroom flat in a three-story building on campus.
W:What is it like living in the campus housing?
M:It's not so bad as I thought it would be.The freshmen that live nearby are really noisy, especially on weekends. But, the rent is much cheaper than private housing, so it's worth it.
W:Do you have to pay fees on top of your monthly rent?
M:No, they're all included.Besides, students don't have to pay state tax, so we're saving quite a bit of money living here.
W:How long is your contract for?
M:That's the bad thing-the contract ends in June, so we'll have to find a new apartment soon.
W:Have you started looking again yet?
M:Not yet.I'm hoping we'll be able to find something cheap once all the students leave the city for the summer.
(Text 9)
M:Have you thought of moving at all, Sarah?
W:We've thought about it, but my husband and I can't afford it right now.
M:Buying a house can be expensive, but there are ways to find cheaper houses.
W:Like what?
M:Well. You can buy a house far away from the city center. You would definitely save money doing it that way.
W:That's a good idea.
M:Sure, my sister-in-law and her husband just bought a house that way. They're pretty satisfied with it.
W:Is the house pretty run-down?
M:Not at all.The woman, who owned it, took good care of it.But when she died, she had no family left and no will, so the government had to sell it for her.
W:Was it a very old house?
M:It was about 75 years old. There were a few repairs that needed doing, but it didn't take a lot of money or time.
W:Is it in a good location?
M:The area can be a bit rough in the evening, but the neighbors watch out for each other, so it's OK.
(Text 10)
Do you read reviews before you see a movie? I used to do that, but I usually wished I hadn't.I used to read so much about a movie in advance that often I ended up not going to see it at all.The writers point out everything that is wrong with the film, and seldom mention anything good about it.They also tell us the important things and even the ending of the movie I think they have seen so many movies that they have forgotten what it is like to enjoy watching one.
Lately I have changed the way I choose movies to watch. Now I never read review before a movie.I read them afterwards, if at all.I don't watch the talk shows where people discuss movies and I don't ask other people what they think about it.Now, I enjoy myself more.
