One possible version:
Dear Editor,
I'm writing to you about the construction project which is taking place in our city. Recently the local government has decided to broaden some narrow roads and build BRT, which has aroused a heated discussion.
Some agree that we should carry out this construction project because it can solve some traffic problems and make our life convenient and comfortable; besides, it helps promote the economy and improve people's living environment as well as the image of Tongling as a modern tourist city.
But others believe that the construction work may cause air pollution. And traffic jams appear now and then. Even worse, the noise produced by the work will disturb people's peaceful life.
Personally, the overpasses in the street may somewhat damage the appearance of our city, however, I think the construction project will certainly do a lot of good to the city and bring  convenience to the residence in the future.
Yours truly,
Li Hua

A father had three sons, but the brothers were always quarreling. Their father tried to make them good fiends, and called all his sons to him. He showed them three sticks and said, ¡°I want to talk to you. Take these sticks and tie them together. Then try to break the bundle of sticks.¡± The oldest son tried with all his strength but he could not break it. Then the other two did the same, but neither of them could break it. ¡°Now,¡± said the father, ¡°untie the bundle and each of you take one stick and try to break it.¡± Either of them could break the stick easily. Then the father said, ¡°My sons, when the sticks are bound together, it is very strong, and you cannot break it. But when they are united, you can break each stick easily. When you work together and help one another, you can become as strong as the bundle. But if you only quarrel and do not stand together, you will be broken as easily as these sticks.¡±

Dear Mike,
Glad to know you are so concerned about our school life, so I¡¯ll tell you something. A heated discussion about the advantages and disadvantages of using the mobile phone has been recently carried out by our Students¡¯ Union.

Robert Fredy was general manager of a large hotel in Ashbury Park, New Jersey. One cold day when he stopped his car at a traffic light, Stephen Pearman, an out-of-work taxi driver, walked up  to earn some change by washing his windshield(µ²·ç²£Á§). Like many motorists who try to keep the beggars off, Fredy turned on the wipers to show he wasn¡¯t interested.
Pearman put his head close to the window. ¡°Come on, mister. Give me a chance. I need a job.¡± He said. Something in Stephen Pearman¡¯s voice moved Robert Fredy. He handed Pearman a business card and told him to call if he was serious.
Two days later, 29-year-old Pearman appeared in the manager¡¯s office of the big hotel. Fredy gave him a job and housing and lent him pocket money while training him.
Today, Pearman works full time setting up the hotel¡¯s dining halls for business meetings. In the past two years, he has found a flat, married and rapaid Fredy¡¯s loans.
¡°Mr. Fredy gave me a second chance,¡± says Pearman, ¡°And I took advantage of it. ¡±
¡°It¡¯s the courage and strong belief in his eyes that motivated me to do so. He asked for a chance rather than just money,¡± Fredy says. ¡°I don¡¯t hand my business card to just anybody. But I¡¯m glad I did in this case.¡±
