As we know, with the development of economy, the number of cars is increasing very rapidly, thus causing some social problems. For example, people are often caught in a traffic jam, especially at rush hour and car accidents have occurred more often than ever. What's more, the car is one of the major problems resulting in global warming. So I think it's a good idea for many European countries to set September 22nd as "No Cars Day".
Although a one-day campaign can hardly generate enough long-term influence to change people's behaviour, at least, it can remind people of the harm that cars do to our society, and encourage more people to travel by bicycle or public transport. In my view, it's not the day but the awareness of all the people to help solve social problems that really matters.
