There is some news that English may account for a lower proportion in our national college entrance examination, but I don’t think it has any effect on our English learning. English is still playing an important part in our daily life.
With the development of China’s economy, more and more people are rich enough to travel or study abroad. English is the first problem they are faced with. Besides, as devices and household appliances of foreign brands are flooding our daily life, English takes a more important part. What’s more, armed with a good command of English, we will be better prepared for the challenges of globalization.
However, reducing the English section is good for us students. It helps to lessen our academic burden. But this change does not mean English study can be ignored. Being tested for less score doesn’t mean the subject can be taken lightly. In my opinion, the national enthusiasm for English will keep on.
