Dear Eric,

I’m glad to know you’ve watched the CCTV Spring Festival Gala this year and that you’ve got a very good impression of it.

The Spring Festival Gala, known as “Chun wan” to us Chinese, is a big feast for our eyes and ears. Ever since its first appearance in 1983, the Gala has developed into an event that most Chinese find it hard to ignore.

On New Year’s Eve every year, family members gather in front of the TV enjoying a wide variety of programs. Though they vary from year to year, the programs mostly include singing, dancing, crosstalk, sketches, acrobatics, etc, from which we have endless fun and entertainment.

Of all the programs, I especially like the magic shown by Liu Qian, a magician from Taiwan. I can tell why. Firstly, the show is pretty fantastic and amusing. Besides, we get a firm belief from his show that with magic, we all have the power to create magic in our lives. A nice idea, isn’t it?

Looking forward to hearing from you again.

Sincerely yours,

Li Hua
