Tired of the ten large mice that were active in his garden every night, Mr. Smith decided to remove them. After a busy week of bombing, gassing and waiting round in the dark with a raised stick, he found that the ten mice remained unhurt. To make things worse there came 22 new comers.
At this point Mr. Smith decided to surprise the mice with a midnight poisoning attack. In May 1999 he drove his Jaguar 24 to the edge of the garden and turned on the headlamps across the enemy area. While reaching for the poison, he happened to knock the car into opposite direction. The car ran into the wall of his cottage, knocked over the electric heater, broke his oil tanks, and made his newly painted sitting room on fire.
Of course it certainly surprised the mice, but it had no effect on all of them except one that disappeared for no reason. Next morning Mr. Smith bought 22 bags of ready mixed cement (水泥) and announced that he was going to make the garden a basketball ground.
