　　Looking back on my childhood，I get to believe that naturalists are born and not made．Although we were all brought up in the same way，my brothers and sisters soon threw away their pressed flowers and insects．Unlike them，I had no ear for music and languages．I was not an early reader and I could not do mental arithmetic．

　　But curiosity（好奇心），a keen eye，a good memory and enjoyment of the animal and plant world do not make a scientist；one of the outstanding（杰出的）qualities required is self-discipline，a quality I lack（缺乏）．A scientist requires not only self-discipline but hard training， determination and a goal．A scientist，up to a point，can be made．A naturalist is born．If you can combine（联合）the two，you get the best of both worlds．

Researchers who helped discover a new species of Mexican butterfly are offering to sell the naming rights to raise money to fund more research. A group of 10 new fish species that went on the naming auction block at the same time earlier this year brought in a total of $2 million.

The butterfly discovered by Warren and researcher George Austin ranges as far north as Mexico.

The butterfly was actually in a collection, misidentified as an example of another new species, at the McGuire Center for Lepidoptera and Biodiversity at the Florida Museum of National History in Gainesville, said Warren. They soon began the hard process of determining that it was indeed a “new” model of butterfly.

After checking photos and comparing it with other known species, they determined it was a separate species.
