Last night, my daughter and I printed out Smile Cards and attached a note to each card saying 'Merry Christmas' and 'Have a Happy New Year'.We decided to 1 the cards into part of the a neighborhood tag game, in which cards must be 2 to someone else in the neighborhood with a piece of paper 3 them Happy Holidays too.
We 4 plenty of cards around our neighbourhood in the dark so no one would see us.
I was 5 when I saw my neighbor run up my driveway today after her child got on her bus with a paper in her hand.It was one of our Smile Cards-we got one back! That afternoon when I was 6 my mailbox, our eldest neighbour, maybe around 80 years old, 7 at my mailbox with her friend. She said, "Come here honey, I have 8 for you", and then she 9 me one of our “Smile Cards' and said "tag you're it".We got another one back!
I 10 talking with her.She said she had one 11 this Christmas, that she would be able to 12 for her family this year, but 13 , she could not 14 the ham on her fixed 15 .I told her I had something for her.I went in and 16 a ham, a bag of potatoes and some cans of green beans, put them in a bag and gave them to her.She said, “I can’t take this.” 17 I insisted, “You tagged me, now here is me paying it forward, and you can tag someone else because now you’re it.” She laughed and smiled.I am lucky because I was blessed with a 'buy one ham get one free'.
It felt so 18 to help her.I know that when I sit to eat my Christmas dinner, she will be having her 19 like she wanted and that is a good 20 .
During our two months on the road,Bennett and I had a really 1 experience with a good, honest 2 and some helpful mechanics(机修师).
We were driving east on Highway 10 when our “check engine” light came on.We limped(拐)off a(n) 3 into Las Cruces. We had a real car 4 .Bennett nursed the car into a local garage.By this time the car was missing(熄灭)so 5 it was shaking all over. This was the 6 time to arrive at a garage–late Friday afternoon.Service adviser Scott was busy 7 paper work and customers as we 8 our problems. 9 he was already “ten cars behind”, he told us to pull the car into the garage.
Lincoln, who we later 10 was one of the top motor technicians, took 11 of our car repairing. He and Scott and some other mechanics stayed several hours after closing, 12 the car.
Early the next morning(the shop was officially closed on Saturdays), Lincoln finally located the 13 and fixed it easily within only 14 .
Later Scott 15 out to us that it was our attitude that helped.“You didn’t come into the place demanding this or that. You showed an 16 of our problems on a busy Friday afternoon.Customer’s attitude means a lot.” He was right in some way, customers should show 17 and understanding to people who 18 them. 19 people were extremely busy, they found way to at least try and help when they are met with politeness.
The pleasant experience I had shows that 20 for other people can always help.
