James Anthony, who is considered to be the greatest living play writer of the American theater, was born in Bangor, Maine in 1921.He attended the public schools of Bangor and although he was the son of a poor European, he found a way to go to college, In 1939, he won a scholarship (奖学金) to the University of Maine, where he spent almost the next four years studying.
