下班的时候，阿炳打来电话说，让我到他的城南音像店去一下。

我犹豫了，从我这儿到他的城南音像店几乎绕大半个城，下班这当儿车流人河，我蹬自行车就得大半个小时呢。我说，有什么事就在电话里说吧？

阿炳没有多说什么，只说来一下就知道了。随即，他挂了电话，那口气仿佛有什么不见面就不好说或不能说的。

我了解他的执拗，知道跟他再说也不会有变，只好骑自行车绕道城郊向着城南蹬去。

我和阿炳认识是在朋友的饭局上。席间，他几乎不动声息，比我的话还少。有好事者欺我不胜酒力，企图借势灌醉我，吵嚷之间，他竟横身夺过我的酒杯往他嘴里倒。这让我一下子就记住了他。

那晚，阿炳送我回家，到了我楼下，有个孕妇跪在街边，面前摊着一张白纸，写着歪歪扭扭的字，不用看也能猜出大概内容。我竟发现阿炳搀扶着我时，也不忘掏出五元钱丢在纸上……

没想到，我绕道城郊走，路上行人并不稀疏，一条本不宽敞的小路被挤得更窄小了。丁字路口处，那堵围墙后破败的院落，是阿炳曾经上班的地方。阿炳告诉过我，他是参加工作三年后听人鼓弄下海去的，却什么也没捞着。如今好不容易在城南租个小铺面开了一家音像店，赚利很薄，刚能抵上养家糊口。但阿炳乐在其中，按他的话说，别看音像店门脸小，声乐的世界可大着呢。我和他一来二往混熟后，不时就相邀小聚，大多是到郊外农家菜馆去，要几样应时的小菜。阿炳酒量并不见好，独独喜欢三春椰酒，喝到醉眼矇眬时，便学着电视里的广告词，戏说你好我也好。由此我常常想起认识他的那个宴席上他为我挡酒，心里便陡增些许敬意。

街边车水马龙，一个老汉沿街乞讨着。记不清多少次了，我和阿炳走在街边，见到乞丐或残疾人，他总是像准备好了似的，悄然丢下三五元钱。我说，那些都是装出来的。有电视台采访一位在街边乞讨的孕妇，结果她拔腿就跑，原来大肚子是垫起来的。他听了只是笑笑。我知道他未必相信我的话，或者就不打算相信。有一次，我明知不能说服他，却还是说：“你就图个心安？”他却说：“不是心安不安。只要他们高兴，而且这付出也是我能承受的。”

也许这只是缘起。后来一件窝囊透顶的事，弄得我的心情很不平静，想必阿炳的心情也不会平静。

那是朋友的朋友介绍的朋友的朋友，从贵州大山里赶来，办了一个小型慈善讲座。主讲人林山似乎还没有抖落从远山而来的疲惫，他给我们看了九幅富有感染力的照片——木板钉成的墙壁、渴求的眼神、龟裂的手指等等，诉求贵州远山深谷里教育亟待拯救。他的演说声泪俱下，震撼了在场所有的人。现场募捐时，我掏了600元，阿炳捐了2000元。我知道那是他筹集的进货款。那时，他的音像店几乎没有进账。

事后一个月，阿炳似乎还没有从贵州的大山里走出来。他说，如果可能，真想去贵州支教，哪怕是一个月。于是我设法联系朋友的朋友，可是林山似乎人间蒸发了，倒是打听到那天在场41人捐了16.4万元。朋友的朋友找到朋友，说是林山的手机关了，他们也只是在一家网站上认识林山的。我特意上了那个网站，网站上有林山贴的很多图片，包括演讲现场见到的那些照片；还有很多帖子，呼吁社会关注贵州大山里的孩子。林山失踪后，网站上的资料也就停止了更新。种种情况表明：我们受骗了。但阿炳并无失落，他始终相信他固执的直觉：林山深邃的眼眸里燃烧着诚意……

一年过去，我和阿炳仍会在朋友聚会小酌时相互关照，但我心里不觉有点生分，害怕他会提起因我的冒失而引致的尴尬结果。渐渐地，我甚至觉得他每一次对我的笑都意味深长。但阿炳像没有发生任何事一样，对捐助贵州大山的事只字不提。不时，我和他还是相约到郊外农家菜馆去，依旧是点几样应时小菜，酒还是熟识的三春椰酒，却未见他再沉醉过。上周末，阿炳外埠的朋友来了，我还应邀到城郊农家菜馆去赴宴；今天周四，他打来电话非让我去找他，究竟有什么事不能电话里说呢？

远远的，我听到从阿炳的音像店里飘出来天籁般的旋律，正想呆在街边沐浴一番。不想阿炳从店里出来了，不容我迟疑，催我进屋。

①如果人生还有下辈子，我想去当画家，为的是画一幅《梦里华村》。不成，就去做个建筑师，克隆一个“华村”。

②“华村”，连名字都值得玩味和珍藏。有人说，家是最小国，国是千万家。你看，这“华”，就是“国”，而“村”就是“家”，大又小，虚而实，只“花”了两个字，很节约。新中国成立后，那里一直是南京银行系统的职工宿舍。我就出生在这个“村”，在那儿生活了几十年。

③这个“村”，本该只住8户人家，因为该“村”主要由8幢三层小楼组成，用今天的眼光看，这是地道的花园洋房，也算双拼别墅，每两幢楼连成一体，各自一个独立的单元。只是，那时这“村”里却住着40多户人家，有的人家就一间房。厨房在楼道口，卫生间是共用的，楼道的拐角处堆着煤砖等杂物，连车库也住着人。

④尽管如此，“华村”的风采却是掩藏不住的。梦里常回这个“村”，不只是因为情感记忆，更是因为怀念那里老建筑的美韵。

⑤这是一群哥特式的老建筑。小角度、长长的尖屋顶，瓦要掉下来似的，绛红色的立体状的木质线条，沿着屋顶，勾勒出小楼轮廓的曲线之美，老远就看见了。灰色的外墙，被做成凹凸状，具有立体感。院子依地形而成，约呈S状自然延伸开去，楼一般高的冬青树，依院墙顺序排列着，四季举着绿伞。楼内上天花下地板，墙角内含金属里衬，窗子是钢结构的，把手和龙头等金属五金部件，是全铜的……错落有致的院子，考究的老建筑，有情有调，有韵律有美感，有历史有文化。

⑥然而，更有遗憾！1958年大炼钢铁时，“华村”那富丽堂皇的铁铸雕花大门，每家每户的暖气片，都被送到炼钢炉里去了。更遗憾的是，上世纪90年代初，这个院子被拆了！

⑦“华村”和一些具有历史文化感的老建筑一样，似乎都有一个共同的特点，那就是多真材实料，少偷工减料。据说，后来有工人抱怨，这房子太结实，拆着费劲。与“华村”一起消失的，还有紧挨着她的那条用小方石块铺成道路的广艺街……

⑧折腾5年多后，居民们回迁到了原址。28层楼，两部电梯，住着228户人家，没有一个汽车位，没有院子，更没有绿地。20年不到，这里从里到外，都已经“老”得不成样子了。有人称它是竖起来的“贫民窟”。

⑨让人想不通的是，现在，不少大城市都在新建“老房子”。既然如此，何必当初！如果“华村”还活着，她几乎不用修饰。历史与文化，尽可在这里穿越时空，交融流淌。一边行走，一边触摸，那该是一件多么惬意和富有诗意的事情！

⑩相信如果“华村”还活着，今天该不会再有人敢去拆她。因为，如果那样的话，一定会有很多的人站出来大声地说“不”。

有些时候，有些事情，“做”可能是一种破坏，“不做”却是一种建设。别人长高了，矮就成了特色；别的地方都“新”了，“旧”和“老”的历史文化底蕴和价值，就会凸显出来。历史和世界的眼光，战略和辩证的思维，是有现实意义的。

As populations increase across Australia and the rest of the world, demand for water will also increase. If we don’t reduce each individual’s demand for water (both directly and through embodied water) the water situation will become dire.

It is obvious that we cannot increase demands for water much more without detrimental(有害的) effects to the environment, society and the economy.

It’s all too easy to blame someone else for the water situation –“if 70% of water is used for agriculture then that’s what we should target” – but it’s not that easy. We all depend on the food and resources that agriculture provides, and while there are definitely opportunities to increase water efficiency on the farm, the solution will take more than that.

We each share responsibility for the sustainable management of our water resources, which means using less water at home, in the workplace, at school, on holidays, on the farm, … everyone, everywhere, every time.

It's time to become water efficient! This involves reassessing our relationship with water, and learning to use it more sparingly. On the most basic level, it requires a behavioural（行动的） change, and assigning a value to water that truly reflects its worth.

We can also unlock economic benefits of being water efficient. There are many real world examples given in the case studies on this site.
