Dear Mr President ,

    I have been doing a project at school recently about animals in danger. I think their living c 1  is terrible inChina. I am writing to you to suggest w 2  we should do to help protect animals more.

   I feel so s 3  for the giant panda. It's one of the most popular animals in the world and a s 4 ofChina. We⁵ve learned that pandas mainly live on bamboo. I think we should try to do more to p 5  people from destroying their forests.

   Another animal we should try to protect more is the Chinese alligator (扬子鳄) . They live in some a 6  of eastern China,and now the water there isn’t c 7  enough for them to live in. The government should stop factories from p 8 the lakes and rivers.

  If we protect these beautiful animals inChina,more people may wish to visitChinato see them. They could be an important t 9 attraction. It would be good if more people came to visit our beautiful country,e 10  some quieter places in the country.

  I hope you will encourage more people to think about such an important subject.

  Once there was a lovely vegetable field with a very big tree in it. Both the vegetables and the t 1  made the garden look wonderful.

  No one knew that the vegetables in the field and the tree couldn't get on well with each other. The vegetables h 2 the tree. They thought the tree did not leave them e 3  light to survive. On the other hand ₉ the tree hated the vegetables. He complained that the vegetables drank nearly all the water b 4 it could get to him.

  The situation became worse and worse. One day,the vegetables got angry and decided to use up all the w 5  in the ground so that the tree would dry up. The tree fought back by refusing to give the vegetables shade (树荫) from the hot sun. Soon they both began to dry up.

  Neither of them thought that the gardener would stop watering his vegetable f 6 when he saw it becoming worse. When the gardener did that,the tree and the vegetables really felt how t 7  they were. There seemed to be no ways to solve the problem,but one of the vegetables? a small pumpkin r 8  what was going on? and decided to deal with it. Though there was little water and it was too hot? the little pumpkin did all he could to grow,grow …F 9,he grew very big. The gardener noticed that and started watering the field again because he wanted to win the beautiful big pumpkin competition. At the same time,the tree and the vegetables grew better. They realized that it was better to help each other than to f 10.

  From then on,they worked together and lived in harmony with those around them.

   People in developed countries usually get their drinking water from a faucet (水龙头) or a bottle. But finding safe drinking water can be rather d 1  in developing countries. People in India,for example,often drink polluted water,which can lead to illness or even d 2. But one Indian company,Sarvajal,has i 3  a great machine: the “water ATM”. Sarvajal's water-filtering (水过滤) network has already p 4  clean water in more than 130 places. Many of these places are small v 5. The water ATM is new and important part of Sarvajal's business.

   How do these water ATMs w 6 ? First,local workers filter water using Sarvajal's equipment (设备) .Then workers s 7  the clean water to the ATMs and sell prepaid (预付费) cards to local people. Then they can e 8  get water from the ATMs with the cards.

  Thanks to Sarvajal's network and water ATMs,clean water is now a 9 to over 70 ,000 people in India. It makes sense that in one of the local 1 10 Sarvajal means “water for all”.

      On July 2 ,1937,Amelia Earhart (an American pilot) and Fred Noonan leftNew Guineafor Howland Island in the Pacific. This was the longest and most dangerous part of their t 1 around the world. Earhart had trouble soon after the plane took off. The weather was very bad,so she had to f 2 at 3,000 metres. Going this high,the plane used fuel quickly.

      After about 20 h 3,Earhart and Noonan got close to Howland Island. The island was o 4 about 65 miles (英里) away,but the bright sun was shining in their faces so they couldn’t see it. Near Howland,a ship was w 5  for the plane. Earhart contacted the ship: “We don't have enough fuel”’ she said. The ship tried to stay in touch with her b 6  got no answer. Finally,the ship called for help. People looked for Earhart and Noonan for days. However,they found nothing.

    What happened to Amelia Earhart? No one knows for sure. D 7  the flight,she probably moved in the wrong direction (方向) because the sun was bright and it was d 8  to see. So she got lost;soon after,her plane ran out of fuel,and she died at sea. Another idea is that she survived (幸存) the plane crash (飞机失事) ，s 9  to a lonely island,and later died there. Still others think she survived the crash and secretly returned to the U. S. with a new identity (身份) .

   Till now,none of these i 10  has been proved. People are still wondering about them. (Noonan's body has never been found either. ) No matter what happened,Earhart probably died as she wished. “When I go ,” she said ,“I'd like best to go in my plane. ”

  It's necessary to discover what you re good at or not and what you like or dislike.

  Many students would be unhappy if they f 1 in a very difficult physics course,but in fact they have known a lot about t 2  They realize that they should not become engineers or p 3 scientists in the future. So failing can help a student to live a happier life if he or she draws something out of it. They may then decide on their aim and c 4 the kind of work that they would be fit for and they would like to do.

  You can't be sure whether you like something u 5  you have tried it. If you make a d 6 that you would like to play the violin,you need to take more music classes b 7 you know if you are really interested in it.

  It is not e 8 to hope to be a violinist. You also have to stand the hard practice before you become one. If you would enjoy being a great violinist,but hate the hard and b 9 work,just give it up.

  It's a good plan to try as many ideas as possible when you are still young. And then you will be able to find o 10 what your true interests are.

        Robert was a clever boy and got on well with his classmates. They all liked him and played with him.      Stress is a state of being upset that happens when we are under pressure. We students have all experienced stress over problems with our everyday 1 1 We may go to school or come back home with worries.
