There were many people on the bus. After ten minutes, we got off (下车) the bus at the park. But we found Maria wasn’t with us. She was 8! She didn’t get off. My father 9 the bus. At last, the driver stopped the bus and Maria got off. She was very careful on the buses and trains after that.
We came back to Los Angeles the next day. We got home late Saturday evening. We were
10, but we were happy. We had a wonderful time in New York. However, Maria is never going to forget her scary bus trip.

My friends and I had just finished lunch at a hotel when it started to rain heavily. When it became lighter, I decided to get my 1 which was parked at my office three streets away.
My friends 2 that I shouldn’t go, mainly because I was seven months pregnant (怀孕的) then. I promised that I’d be very 3. One of them wanted to come with me but I insisted that she stayed with another friend who needed help 4 her baby.
I walked out of the hotel and started making my way to the car. At the crossing, a van stopped and a man came out with an umbrella. Before I knew what was happening, he walked right 5 me and told me he’d escort (护送) me. Although I refused, he insisted that he would.
During our walk, he kept telling me to walk slower, as the ground was 6. When we got to the car-park, I thanked him and he went away. I did not get his name and can 7 recognize (认出) him now. Did he stop for me? I’ll never know.
So how did I pay it forward? I was at home when I noticed two Indian workers 8 in the heavy rain. They were probably on their way to the working place near my home. I went out and passed them my 9, telling them they should take and keep it. They were surprised by my action. They were very grateful to me, probably 10why a stranger was offering such kindness. I was so relaxed and happy that day.

The following week the man was riding his bike 6he noticed the woman walking down the street. A strong wind suddenly lifted her hat and sent it into the branches(树枝) of an old tree. The woman tried to get her hat with a stick, but she failed. She seemed 7 because she clearly was not dressed for tree-climbing. Miracles(奇迹)will happen if you don’t give up trying. Even if you have1 for one hundred times, you may succeed when you try for the 10lst time.
When I was born, my doctor told my mother that there was something wrong with my2 .  They were too soft to be able to walk. Although the news was bad, my mother didn’t become 3 . She didn’t believe what the doctor said 4 started to look for other ways.
My mother kept looking for other doctors for me, and finally she5 . The doctor and his team in the hospital did 6they could to help me. They also asked my parents to teach me to do some 7to help me walk. One day when my mother came to pick me 8  . I crawled(爬) towards her. She was so surprised and happy that she couldn’t believe9  eyes. Crawling was not walking, but it was a good 10 . Day by day, I could walk by myself.
When I grew up, my mother 11  told me these stories. She said that if I thought of what she said whenever I met 12 , I could do anything successfully. I have been working hard and I have turned out to be a very 13 person.. I get best grades in school and I am a good dancer and swimmer. 14my mother’s strong resolution, I live a happy life now. What the story tells us, as my mother always says, 15: Never give up.
