Eight Treasures of Laba

Laba Porridge  (腊八粥) is known to every Chinese. It marks a special day. Laba Festival, which falls on the 8th day of the 12th lunar (农历的) month.
People eat Laba Porridge on that day. The porridge is also called "Eight Treasures Porridge", because it usually has at least eight things. Rice, beans, dried fruits and peanuts are very popular in the porridge.
On the night before the festival, mothers are busy preparing their porridge. They cook it over a slow fire from midnight until

Do students in the United States receive too much homework? According to the National Education Association, a student should be assigned (布置) no more than 10 minutes per grade level per night. This means that a student in my grade—seventh—should have no more than 70 minutes of work (C) each night. Yet this is often doubled, sometimes even worse!

What is it like being an actor? Many people think it must be wonderful because we travel to exciting places, wear beautiful clothes and (A)挣钱多. This is only one aspect(方面) of our lives though. We also work very hard.

In 2007 organizers in over 150 countries planned over 4,000 big events. But Earth Day is not just about marches(游行) and big events. Shyness means feeling nervous or frightened when you’re around other people. Experts (专家) have found that more than 80 percent of middle school students feel afraid to be the centre of attention. Some kids are born shy. Some become shy later because of their life experiences.
