“Nothing is okay, mom.” said the boy, “Today, in our science lesson, Mrs Green was talking about the 4. She said that the whole world is getting dirtier and that many animals and plants are dying. She wants us to think of something we can do to help. I thought all the way, but there is 5I can do to make a difference.”
“Let me tell you 6.” the mother said after thinking for a while. “One morning a man was walking down a beach, there he saw thousands of dying starfish covering the beach, they were pushed up by the 7, and it was too far up for them to make their way back by 8. The man shook his head as he walked along, ‘What a pity! So many starfish will die on the beach.’ The man felt very sorry 9those starfish. He went on walking and just at that time he was10 to find a boy in front who was throwing the starfish back into the sea as11as he could, ‘how silly you are! My 12,’ the man said, ‘There are so many starfish, can you throw all of them back?’ The boy didn’t stop but kept throwing, ’13I can’t help them all. I can make a difference to this one, and this one, and this one, and this one.”
“Thinking for a moment, the man 14to help return the starfish to their home. He smiled and said to himself, ‘Sometimes the biggest lesson in life comes from the 15person.

Then6the door of your room. If the door is warm, don't open it. If it's cool, open it just enough to7. If you see fire or much smoke, close the door fast.
If you can't see fire or smoke, you can go out of the door. Shut the8behind you. That will slow down the fire. Now find a9out. Stay away from the smoke. The air is the10near the floor. So it11be the safest to crawl(爬)when you leave the house.
If you can't leave your room, close your door. Cover the crack (缝隙) under the door

Mr Knight was the manager of a hotel. One weekend all of the hotels in the city were 1 because there was an important meeting. On Friday night, three men came into the hotel and asked for rooms. Mr Knight said that there were 2 rooms ready for use because of the meeting. The three men were very 3 because they had no place to stay.
Mr Knight wanted to help them. He remembered that Room 418, a very small room, was empty. He asked the men 4 they would share a room. The three men said they would.
Mr Knight told that the room would be thirty dollars: ten dollars 5 each one. Each man gave him ten dollars, and then they went up to the room.
Mr Knight soon began to feel 6. “Thirty dollars is a lot to ask as a price for that small room.” He thought. He said to his assistant, “Here’s five dollars. Give it to the men in Room 418. I asked them too 7money for their room.”
The assistant tool the money. 8 he was on the way to Room 418, he started to think: “How can three men divide five dollars? I’11 keep two dollars. The men will be happy to get anything back. I’11 take a little money and Mr Knight will 9 know.” So the assistant returned one dollar to each man.
Each man had paid ten dollars. After the assistant returned one dollar to each one, each man had 10 paid only nine dollars. There were three men $9×3=$27. The assistant kept $2. $27+$2=$29. Where is the missing dollar?
