Long long ago, there lived a clever black panther (豹) in the forest. His name was Bagheera. One day when Bagheera sat in a tree, he saw something surprising (令人惊讶的). He saw a human (人类) baby! Bagheera couldn’t look after the baby, so he took the baby to live with a family of wolves.

  “We’ll spend the night here,” Bagheera said and they rested under a tree. Just then a snake found Mowgli. He thought Mowgli would taste delicious. Bagheera woke up just in time and saved Mowgli. Then they kept moving.
