On a cold December morning, my mother and I were walking home from pizza store. We were  1  warmly and equipped with the video___2___ we had been trying to watch. I was feeling a little tired  3  I was carrying our shopping bags of snacks and the video.
They were so  4  that I decided to throw away some of them. So I started to walk towards the dustbin __5___I noticed a poor man stepping out of the restaurant in front of us. He held a paper bag with his dirty hand. He  6  over to another nearby dustbin and started looking  7  it.
I suddenly felt very upset. I know this man would take all he could get, so I walked up to him and  8  the drink and some snacks to him. The man, with lines on his face and wrinkles(皱纹) on his forehead, looked up in  9  and took what I gave him.
A huge smile spread across his face and this made  10   feel indescribable satisfaction(满意). I felt like I couldn’t be happier with __11___, but then he said, “Wow, first someone gives me this sandwich, then this drink, and now some tasty food, this is my daughter’s 12 day!”
He thanked me happily and started off on his bike. I even heard him whistling(吹哨) a song as he  13  away.
I now understand what is meant by the saying “giving is getting”. Everyone in the world needs help, everyone can  14  help and everyone will be helped by something kind.
The image(图像) of that man’s happiness  15  by my small gift appears in my mind every time I have the chance to do something nice.

If a snake bites you, take a photo with your mobile phone! It may save your life. This is the surprising advice of a British cook.
One day Henry Jackson was working in a restaurant kitchen. He picked up a dish from the table, and suddenly a snake appeared... and bit him on the hand.
A few days earlier, the snake came to the restaurant from Asia in a box of bananas. It climbed out of the box and hid under the dish.
"I went to try to pick it up and it bit me again. I threw it across the kitchen, and it landed in the fridge. So I closed the door," Mr. Jackson said.
Anyway, Mr. Jackson stayed cool and he took a photo of the snake with his mobile phone. Soon his hand began to ache and he went to hospital. Then his chest began to hurt. Doctors couldn't say what was wrong because they didn't know what kind of snake it was.
Then Mr. Jackson remembered his mobile phone photo. The doctors sent it to London Zoo. When they knew the kind of snake, they could give Mr. Jackson the right medicine, and he left hospital the next day.
"So my advice is this: if a snake bites you, pick up your phone. Take its photo first and then show the photo to the doctors," suggests Mr. Jackson. "Oh, and if the snake doesn't smile for its photo, don't worry."

Looking for a children’s book? Internet users can find hundreds of them. These books are from around the world. And they are free to readers. The United States has started a project called the International Children’s Digital Library. It is supported by the National Science Foundation, the Library of Congress and the institute of Museum and Library Services.

A picture of each page appears on the computer. Users can also print the pages on paper if they want to.
