With a hat by his feet,a blind boy sat on the steps of a building.He held up a sign which said,"I'm blind,please help."

Carl Orff was born in Germany on July 19,1895.He began to show interest in music at an early age.He studied composing music at the Music Academy(学院) in Munich.After graduation in 1914,he became a professional musician and teacher.In 1920,he made his home in Munich and worked as a teacher and composer.He composed lots of songs,operas and orchestral music that were popular.

In the United States in the nineteenth century,many children studied in one-room schoolhouses.Students in Grades One to Eight shared the same classroom.A one-room schoolhouse was usually built of wood and painted white or red.
