【题目】 Do you enjoy reading and learning poetry (诗歌)? April is National Poetry Month in the United States. Children all over the world also learn about poetry at school.

When I was young we learned about lots of different poets. Poetry comes in many different forms (形式). I like how it can be used to express serious feelings, or just be something that makes you happy.

Bush poetry, a special Australian style of poetry, is my favorite.

Bush poets write about life in rural (乡村的) Australia. They write about all the things that make Australia different from other countries.

One of the most famous bush poets is Andrew Banjo Patterson. He wrote his poems about 100 years ago. His poem called The Man From Snowy River is one of the most famous Australian poems. It is about a great man who was very good at riding horses. You can search for the poem online and see if you like it or not.

One of my friends enjoyed reading poems by another Australian poet named Bruce Dawe. Dawe writes poems about what it is like to live in Australia today.

My friends in the US and England also learned poetry at school. Famous US poets include Robert Frost and Edgar Allan Poe, while English students learn about William Shakespeare and John Keats.

Most poets are very interesting, inspiring (热情的) or unusual people. It is fun to learn about their lives and personalities. By doing that you can get a better understanding of their poems. Sound interesting? You can research these poets and find out more for yourself.

【题目】阅读理解七选五 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。

Parrots are amazing birds. They are mainly green, and some of them have many colors. 1 However, many scientists say that they don’t actually speak and they just repeat what they hear. Some scientists disagree.

A scientist named Irene Pepperberg did years of experiments to prove that parrots are very intelligent and they can actually understand what people are saying. 2 She named the bird Alex. After many experiments, Irene reported that Alex didn’t just repeat what he heard, but in fact the bird could use words creatively and answer 80% of the simple questions she asked him.3 Other scientists don’t believe Alex’s achievements. They insist that Alex was just repeating the answers as he was taught to do. In other words, Alex just performed by memorizing rather than using language..

Whatever scientists say, many people like to keep parrots because they can “talk”.4 Unfortunately, many parrots are being taken from the jungles of Asia and South America to be sold as pets. As a result, the number of wild parrots is reducing every year.

5 They are great to have as pets, but they are better left in the wild.

A. Parrots are smart and beautiful birds.

B. A parrot just like any bird is easy to feed.

C. It is fun to say something and have a parrot repeat it.

D. What’s more, Alex could even understand what he himself said.

E. They are very pretty, but the most amazing thing is that they can talk.

F. Their most amazing trait is that they can walk like both children and adults.

G. She bought an African grey parrot from a pet shop when the bird was about one year old.
