【题目】During summer vacations, I would volunteer at the pet rescue (救助) centre, so I could see a lot of dogs. Minnie was the funniest-looking dog I'd ever seen by far. Her body looked like a sausage. Her hair was too thin to her body. Her eyes always seemed surprised, and her tail was so short that it looked like a rat’s tail.

She looked so strange that her didn’t want her any more. She was brought to the centre. But I thought, “Minnie was kind and sweet. No one should laugh at her strange looking.” So I gave Minnie a good bath and her in the newspaper: “Funny-looking dog, kind and sweet, needs loving .”

Later, a boy called me, but I warned him that Minnie was . However, the boy told me that his grandfather’s sixteen-year-old dog had just died. They wanted to keep Minnie very much. Hearing these words, I said that they could take Minnie away. I combed (梳) her hair, and gave her a good bath. Then we waited for them to arrive.

At last, an old car stopped in front of the pet rescue centre. Two kids to the door. They put Minnie into their arms and rushed out to their grandfather, who was waiting in the car. I hurried behind them to see his reaction (反应).

Inside the car, the grandfather put Minnie in his arms and her soft hair. She looked very relaxed and happy. “She’s perfect, and I like her!” the old man said. I was that Minnie had found a good owner. Just at that time, I saw that the grandfather’s eyes were a milky white color—he was blind.

After that summer vacation, I missed Minnie so much. So I went back to the grandfather’s house. The grandfather was walking in the garden with Minnie the way. I could see both of them were happy. “Minnie is the most beautiful dog in my eyes,” said the grandfather, “I’ve felt happier before!” Hearing this, I was pretty happy!

【题目】Do you find it hard to learn math and history? A recent study carried out by scientists from University of London, may be of help to you. They found that teenagers could get higher marks in math if they studied in the morning and better grades in history if they were taught in the afternoon.

The researchers did a study at a secondary school in Bulgaria over nine years. The results showed that when teenagers had math classes earlier in the day, they scored on average (平均) 7 percent higher in tests than when taught in the afternoon. Lower-ability students did worst when they were studying math in the afternoon.

In history, students taught in the afternoon scored on average 6 percent higher than when they were taught in the morning. However, it doesn’t work for other subjects such as languages or geography.

Velichka Dimitrova, leader of the study, said the findings show that we do better at different times of the day.

“In the morning, our brains are better and fresher, so we are better at doing something that repeats a lot like problem solving, where we require more speed and attention,” Dimitrova told The Telegraph.

“In the afternoon, it seems that this process (过程) slows down. On the other hand, history is better suitable for the afternoon, when we are more creative and open to discussion,” she said.

Subjects such as foreign languages require both memory and repetition (重复), and they also need people to be creative. This is perhaps why the time of day has no influence on learning.

Time-of-day effects such as those are believed to be connected to the body clock. This is the system in our bodies that controls when we need to sleep. Some schools in the US and UK have tried out later school starting times for teenagers, whose body clocks change as they grow into adults.

Dimitrova believes schools should take this chance to improve students’ performance just by changing their timetables.

【题目】Now there is a family problem. Nearly every parent says that we never grow up. In fact we are probably 16 or 17 years old. In their eyes, we are always little ones and often do wrong things.

Most parents always think that they have offered the best things they can to make their children live in a comfortable world. They buy their children pretty clothes, cool shoes, everything that they can for their dear children. In return, they only want their children to get good results in the exams.

But why still can’t their children understand them? Does it mean that we still want more material things? No. In fact, what we want is a true family. I think a true family means a place where we can hide ourselves from the cold world outside. From here, we can get warmth, we can get consolation (安慰), and we can get happiness. And one important thing is that we should be stronger and more confident in the outside world because we know that we have a true family. So I think that parents should sit down and talk with their children to let them know that they have a true family. So the children and their parents could understand each other more and more. Then parents will not treat their children as little ones.

根据短文内容,判断下列句子的正误。正确的填“T”,错误的填“F”,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。(共5小题;每小题1分,满分5分)
