In an ancient country there were two great carpenters(木匠), Andy and John.

Andy’s mouse was so wonderful that it was just like a real one while John’s was ugly without its shape and look. So the king and his soldiers all agreed Andy was the winner.

But John disagreed. He shouted, “That’s unfair. It should be decided by cats.”

The King thought it was right. Then he asked his soldiers to take several cats there to decide which mouse looked more like a real one. Everyone became surprised because the cats all jumped on John’s mouse while Andy’s mouse was left alone.

Before the fact, the king had to say John was the final winner. Later, the king asked John, “How did you make the cats believe what you carved was a mouse?” John said, “In fact, it’s simple. I carved a mouse only with the fishbone(鱼骨)! What the cats care about is not its shape, but its taste!”
