On a dark night, a monk(僧人)was walking in a village to look for the real Buddha(佛). Then the monk saw a ray of light from the dark. One villager nearby said, “Blind Sun (a blind man), is coming.”

The monk felt completely puzzled. He asked Blind Sun, “Excuse me, are you really a blind man?” “Yes, I have been blind since I came to this world.” The blind man replied. The monk continued asking, “Since you could not see anything, why are you still holding a lantern(灯)?” The blind man said, “It is dark night now, isn't it? I heard that if there is not light on the dark night, all others in the world are also blind just like me. So lit up a lantern.” The monk said, “You lit up the lantern for others?” But the bind man replied, “No, I did it for myself. Have you ever ben run into by others on a dark night?” The monk said, “Yes. I was run into by two people just now.” The blind man said proudly, “But have not all the time. I hold a lantern in the dark so that I can light up others and at the same time let others see me. Then they will not run into me.”

Always remember-----we can light up ourselves only by lighting up a lantern for others.

If you stay in space for a long time, will your body change? Mark Kelly and Scott Kelly from the United States will show you the answer.

Mark and Scott are twins. They are both retired(退休的)NASA(美国国家航天航空局)astronauts. From 2015 to 2016,Scott spent 340 days at the international space station, while Mark stayed on the earth. People took measures of both men before, during and after the flight. They were helping with a NASA project which studies how long-term space travel influences the human body.

The full results of the study will come out in a year or two. But scientists are sharing some findings in the journal Nature.

A change in appearance was easy to see. Scott, when he returned to the earth, was 5cm taller before. Another change was that Scott's eyesight declined after he came back. He found he couldn't see clearly. He also found that he couldn't move his legs so easily like before. Scientist found that after coming back to the earth, he took a little longer to understand things and make decisions.

There were also changes that were much harder to see. As someone grows older, his telomeres(端粒)get shorter and become less effective to stop DNA from getting damaged. But during Scott's stay in space, his telomeres got longer while Mark's kept getting shorter.

Further tests on the twins are still going on.NASA plans to send people to Mars in the 2030s,and the twins' research could help them prepare for those space trips.

The British artist Dominic Wilcox has created a pair of shoes, which can lead you home no matter where you are in the world. He thought about the fairy tale The Wizard of Oz and how Dorothy could click her shoes to go home. So he decided to make a pair of shoes that could take you home with a click of heels. The shoes can point the way with GPS and clever LEDs(发光二极管).Wilcox worked with another artist and a shoemaker to produce what he calls the “No Place Like Home” shoes.

One of the “No Place Like Home” shoes has a GPS unit inside the heel of the left shoe. It communicates wirelessly(无线方式)with the right shoe and provides data to the LED lights. The LEDs on the left toe point the person in the right direction while those on the right toe show how much of the journey still remains.

It may be an art project. There’s only one pair, but it’s not hard to imagine a similar, more everyday pair of shoes for children, old people or those who always lose their ways in the future.

Now, this pair of shoes are on show in London.
