A priest(牧师) had a cat that climbed up a tree in his backyard and then was afraid to come down. The priest persuaded(劝说), offered warm milk, etc. The kitty would not come down. The tree was not strong enough to climb, so the priest decided that if he tied a rope to his car and drove away so that the tree bent(弯曲)down, he could then reach up and get the kitty. He did so, checking his progress in the car again and again, then work out if he went just a little bit further, the tree would be bent enough for him to reach the kitty. But as he moved a little further forward, the rope broke.

The tree went “boing!” and the kitty at once sailed through the air —out of sight. The priest felt terrible. He walked all over the neighborhood asking people if they’d seen his kitty. Nobody had seen a lost kitty.

So, he prayed(祈祷), “God, I just give this kitty to your keeping,” and went on about his business.

Several days later he was at the grocery store, meeting one of his church(教堂) members. He happened to look into her shopping cart and was amazed to see cat food. Now this woman was a cat hater and everyone knew it, so he asked her, “Why are you buying cat food when you hate cats so much?”

She replied, “You won’t believe this,” and told him how her little girl had been begging her for a cat, but she kept refusing. Then a few days before, the child begged again, so the Mom finally told her little girl, “Well, if God gives you a cat, you can keep it. ” She told the priest, “I watched my child go out in the yard, get on her knees, and ask God for a cat. You won’t believe this, but I saw it with my own eyes. A cat suddenly came flying out of the blue sky, with its paws spread out, and landed right in front of her. ”

To me, the idea of home changes along with my age all the time.

In my childhood, home was a number of calls. It seems that I had more free time than today’s children. I didn’t have to appear in front of my parents right after school. Instead, I often went to play with my classmates who lived in my neighborhood. We played until dinner was ready and our parents called “Come back! Come home for supper.”

Very soon, my childhood was gone. When I grew into a young man from a boy. Home became a place I tried to run away from.

As I read more and more, my world opened up, larger than before. The bed I used to sleep in became too small. And words of care from my parents became meaningless. How I wished I could have a space of my own someday! Later I joined the army and put on my own green uniform. Home was the series of letters I received one after another.

When I got a job, I began to get ‘hurt’, to rise and fall in the sea of people, and to understand that you can’t share all your pains with other people, even with your best friends. So again, another wave of homesickness came over me. When I was badly hurt, I imagined myself flying home on wings. Pushing open the door, I let tears flow down my face. At that moment I felt that as large as the world was, what I needed was only the familiar smell of home and the unchanged view outside the window of my old house

How to beat sadness

We all have days when we are down, tired and unhappy. That's OK. You need days like this, or how would you know you are happy? You'll enjoy your good days even more when you have a few bad days. Even if sadness is a part of life, let's try to make it small. Here are a few simple ways to help you feel better when you are feeling sad.

1.Stand up straight and this helps your energy flow (流动). When your energy is flowing freely, you can flow too.

2.Smile! It's easy to do and have good results. This way can not only leave you in a good mood but also bring others a good mood.

3.Listen to music. It can be your favourite music. Some kinds of music work better than others, so try and find out what kind of music works the best for you.

4.Take some "me" time. You can find pleasure in reading a book, watching a sunrise or having a hot bath, or something like that.

5.Exercise. Even something as simple as taking a walk will get your blood flowing. It is a great way to clear your mind of anything that makes you sad.

These ways will cheer you up when you are down, but don't just use them when you are sad. If you want these ways to work, you’d better practice them every day until you can make them a habit. You will be surprised to learn that these simple ways will keep your sadness away. But if you are in a deep depression (沮丧), go to see a doctor.

Many people think dreams are full of messages that may not be clear to us common people. But if we think about what is going on in our lives, we can usually come up with an answer. Let’s look at some of the most common dreams. What are the meanings of these dreams?

Falling

You’re falling, falling, falling… and then you wake up. This dream is said to mean you are in fear of something or worried about something. There may be something in your life that is out of control and there is nothing you can do to stop it. Another explanation is that you may experience failure in something. Maybe you’re not doing well in school or work.

Taking an exam (or forgetting that you have one)

You suddenly realize you have to take an exam at that very moment. You might be running here and there to find your classroom. Scientists say this dream may mean you’re being tested about something or maybe you are facing a challenge.

Flying

Dreaming that you are flying means you are on top of things. You are in control of the things that matter to you. It may also mean you have confidence in yourself and think no one and nothing can beat you.

Trying to run, but going nowhere

You’re trying to run, but either of your legs won’t move or you simply aren’t going anywhere. Some scientists think this dream means you’re trying to do too many things at once and can’t catch up or move forward.

In fact, unlike these dreams, there are also many strange dreams that scientists may not be able to explain.
