Making friends on line
Should students make friends on line? Some people say yes
Should students make friends on line? Some people say yes.The reasons are as follows:first,we can make more friends with others on the Internet.Second,We can express our ideas freely.Besides, making friends on line can contribute to learning English.
However, others are against the opinion. The reason why they disagree is that they think it is a waste of time to make friends on line and has a bad effect on study. What's more, students are likely to be cheated on line.
Each coin has its two sides. In my opinion, making friends on line is good for us because it is very convenient and can widen our horizon. But we should place their study, health and safety before other things..
6."DRINK your milk.It's good for you!"You've probably heard that many times,and it's true.Milk contains calcium (钙.,which is necessary for keeping bones and teeth healthy and strong.The US government even (80)A milk as part of the National School Lunch Program,saying that students should drink one cup of fat-free or low-fat milk every meal.
However,a group of doctors asked the government to take it away from the lunch program.The US‘Physician Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM)'says,"Milk is high in sugar,fat and animal protein,"all of which are not so (81)C to health.There are better ways to get calcium,such as eating beans and drinking orange juice and soymilk."One of the only (82)D people prefer milk is because it is going to help build strong bones,"says Dr Neal Barnard,president of the PCRM.But milk may not be the best way to get calcium your body needs.
Of course,calcium is important for healthy bones and teeth,but there are other things that have(83)B to do with your bone strength,such as genes (基因.,how much vitamin D you take in,and time,getting an hour's exercise every day.
Some people disagree with the idea that milk isn't important.Keri Gans,an American Dietitian (营养学家.,says"I don't think it's (84)A if we take away this drink from the lunch line.Children enjoy it very much,especially among those who are unable to meet their nutrient (营养的.needs for the day."
The US government is now considering PCRM's idea,but (85)B may be a long way off.A professor at New York University puts it best:"Milk certainly has nutrients.Other food has the same nutrients.It's just food.As with other food,too much might be a problem."

5.Do you have sleeping problems? Is it hard for you to remember or pay attention in class?Do you get angry e(86)asily?If your answer is yes,you may be under stress (压力).
Stress is a normal physical response to things that make people feel worried. In China,70 percent of the 2,000 students about to take the college or high school entrance examination are under high stress, according to a recent s(87)urvey/studyby Wuhan University of Hubei province.
Sometimes stress is good for people. It p(88)ushes people to do their best, like while getting ready before a big competition or exam.H(89)owever,too much or long-term stress makes people feel a stress overload (负荷过多),and affects people's health.
When you feel stressed, there are some ways you can deal with it.Learning to work out small problems in everyday life is h(90)elpful.It can help build confidence to move on to life's bigger ones.Try s(91)aying some positive (积极的)words to yourself, like"I will do the best that I can,"or"I can handle (处理)this if I take one step at a time."That encourages you to work toward your goal.It is also important to relax sometimes, for example by getting a good night's sleep, doing exercises or taking a bath.
But if you are under high stress and can't deal with it by yourself,it is also good to ask parents or friends for help.Everyone has stress. It is not a shame to tell o(92)thers that you are having a hard time. They may comfort (安慰)you or give you some useful advice. You may feel better from sharing your problems with them.
4.What will the home of the future look like?A team of architects (建筑师)in Hong Kong say that city homes will be tiny,as populations continue to (80)B and space becomes more expensive.
They have designed"spaceflats"that are only 30square meters in(81)A.These flats have small rooms:a living room,a bathroom and a bedroom,as well as a balcony (阳台.,but everything is (82)D planned to make good use of the limited space.
The living room is the main room of the flat.It can be used as an office,a kitchen even a second bedroom.There is a sofa that can be changed into a bed.The dining table can be changed into a computer desk.And,if not needed,both the sofa-bed and the table can be folded away (折叠收拢.and stored into a small space in the wall.There is a flat-screen TV,which can also serve as a computer monitor.In one of the room,a small cooker,a microwave oven and a small refrigerator are (83)C out of sight.
The other rooms are small but practical (实用).The bathroom contains a toilet and a shower.The double bed in the bedroom can also be a sofa,if (84)C.The balcony has enough room for two people to sit and enjoy the view from the block of flats.All the rooms have high ceiling to provide as much storage space as possible,while the flat has large windows to let in(85)A sunlight.
"Spaceflats"are now being tested in a building in Hong Kong."It's wonderful,"said one citizen."The flat is so well designed that you feel that here is plenty of space."

3.When you are learning English,listening,speaking and writing are important,but reading can also be very helpful.Here are some good reading tips.
(66)B Read something that you can understand.If you need to stop every three words to use a dictionary,it is not interesting.
Try to increase the number of your new words.If there are four or five new words on a page,write them in your notebook.(67)D Instead,try to guess their meaning as you read:mark them with a pen.
Then come back when you have finished reading look them up in a dictionary and write them in your own vocabulary book.Then try to remember them.
Try to read regularly(定期的) (68)C Fifteen minutes every day is better than two hours every Sunday.Fix a time to read and keep to it.You could read for fifteen minutes before you go to bed,or when you get up or at lunchtime.
(69)EChoose a book or a magazine about a subject that you like,because you are going to spend time and money reading it.(70)A You can also read newspapers.There are many English newspapers in China.It is easy enough to understand and also there is something interesting in it.

A.So,choose an interesting book.
B.Try to read at the right level.
C.For example,read for a short time once a day.
D.But you don't have to write them while you read.
E.Read what interests you.
2.Smart Work
Maybe you have seen this in schools:Some students study nearly all the time but they  just pass their exams,while some others may spend much (81)lesstime on their books but do much better in exams.How could this happen?People used to think that hard work is the only way to success.But now they understand that smart work can make them successful,too.
Hard workers don't(82)mindworking for long hours,while smart workers always think of several different answers to these questions."Why should I suffer this?""Isn't there a better way to do this?"Thanks to these people,we can use computers instead of the abacus now.(83)Progressin every field is the direct result of"try to find a better way"by smart workers.There was a large soap factory in Japan.Once it received an unusual letter from someone who(84)complainedthat there was no soap in the soapbox he bought.
How could empty soapbox go out of the factory?The engineers checked the producing and packing.The producing was fine,but in about one in ten thousand cases,the packing machines let an empty soapbox go.There was no need to spend a lot of money repairing the machine for such a small problem.The engineer soon worked out a (85)solution.He put a large X-ray (X射线) machine and two large computers to find out the empty soapbox.(86)Afterteaching the workers how to use it,he sat down in his seat,exhausted.
"Sir,we could have solved the problems in a much simpler and cheaper way."a worker said.
"Really?How?""We can put a huge fan near the packing machine.The wind coming from the fan will blow away the empty boxes and leave the other (87)oneswith soap.There would be no need for an X-ray machine,two computers,and operating by workers."
See,this is smart work.In order to succeed,we should not only learn from the engineers'hard work,but also think smart like the workers.
