If you visit the man-made Beiji Island located(位于) in Northeast China now,you'll see the power of changing seas into farms and the power of the new technologies.
As Jinzhou 2013 World Garden Exposition (锦州世界园林博览会)is opening on Friday,the small island is blooming(开花)with millions of flowers.In one garden,thousands of tulips(郁金香) from Holland and forming red,yellow and white belts across the island.A total of 130,000 trees and 30 million flowers have been planted in the park.It's designed by artists from across the world.
"The exposition required a large piece of land,but we decided not to use any farmlands.That's why we chose the poor saline-alkali foreshores (盐碱滩)."said Yi Xinyang,an official in charge of the design of the exposition."We have poured 20 million cubic meters(立方米) of sand and soil into the sea since 2011."
   Thanks to the new technologies,the saline-alkali problem can be solved.But besides the technology,human labor also plays a big part.When tourists appreciate the island's natural beauty,they should realize how the beautiful garden is built on the sea.
