                              Decide to Do Well 

      Everybody makes decisions in daily life. They can be as important as what you will do in the future or as simple as what you will eat for breakfast. 21. 任何决定可能成为你人生的转折点。I made an important decision when I was in Junior 3.

      Before I made that decision I was one of the boys who tried too hard to act as an adult. I didn't know that only,kids want to show themselves as adults.

      I didn't listen to my parents and teachers,and my grades became poor. 22. Then came the high school entrance exam.

      At the turning point of my life,my mom wanted to have a conversation with me. I wanted to turn it down but when I looked at her eyes,I felt I couldn't refuse. Instead of asking me to study hard,to my surprise,Mom just asked what I wanted to do in the future. 23. 没有思考太多，我就说我想好好用功学习。

      Mom smiled and asked again： “I asked: what do you WANT to do?”

      I never seriously thought about the question. So,I kept silent.

The path to my future became clear to me. I didn't act rebelliously (叛逆地) any more. With passion in my heart,I studied hard.

      Now,I'm 17 and 25. I'm in one of the best schools in my city,in one of the best classes at the school and I am one of the best students in the class.

      Thanks to that decision,I have become what I am today.

       Long ago,people did not need money. They lived on wild animals,fruits and other plants.        Two men were going through a forest.

      “I am afraid ,” said one ,“that we may meet with wild animals. Fear nothing,friend Quickwit ,” cried the other,whose name was Braggart. “If they come at us,we shall stand by one another like men.I have a strong arm,a strong heart,and...”

     “Hark!” cried the first in fear,6. 因为在不远处听到了一个低沉的声音。Braggart,who was light and nimble,climbed up a tree like a squirrel (松鼠) ， leaving his friend,who was not so active,to face the danger alone! 7. Quickwit could do nothing but throw himself on the ground and pretended (假装) to be dead;8. for he had heard that bears would never touch a dead body.
