“I have an hour to eat dinner and do some homework. After dinner it's football, and I'm home by 7: 00 p. m.,” says Bryan,an ll-year-〇ld boy.

But once he’s back home,it's still not time to relax. There's more homework to finish. While he hardly has any time to relax himself,Bryan does find some “me time”. For example,he relaxes when he rides his bike to school. Bryan is busy, but he isn’t overscheduled (日程过满的) .

But many kids are. Author Annie Fox say^s lots of kids are overwhelmed (被压倒的) with after-school lessons and homework.

About 90 percent of children aged 9 to 13 said they felt stressed from being too busy, according to a KidsHealth. org survey of 882 kids. And 24 percent said they felt this way all the time.

It's not just the dance lessons and soccer games that make kids have less time to relax. “Even when kids are walking down the street, they receive text messages and phone calls. They can never just be free,” Fox says.

   Why are some kids overscheduled?

Fox says some parents hope their children have the soccer skills or flute (长笛) abilities needed to do well in high school and get into a good college.

But Fox says everyone, even grown-ups,needs a bit of ume time?, to avoid being stressed. “There's a Wiwme Pooh (《小熊维尼》) quote where he says, ‘Sometimes I sit and think;sometimes I just sit.

(1) (如果你有太多的家庭作业) ,for example,10 mnutes’ listening to music can help you get things done. “(2) When you are stressed out,it's not the time to make a decision about anything”’ Fox says.
