I'm Rosa Croft.I must say that I became a nurse by chance.I didn't really like my first Job-office
work. It was OK, but that's all I can say about it.I stayed in the same place with the same people
around me all day and every day. Then I became a singer and I enjoyed it very much.but later the
singing group broke up(解散)and I had to start looking for a new job.
Some girls wanted to be nurses when they were children.but it never went into my head until I
saw an ad in a newspaper.I thought,"oh,well,I'll give it a try."One thing I liked about it was going
away from home.
The training was very interesting and most of it was just in the wards(病房),so that I could begin
nursing real patients soon.
I lived in the nurses home after I arrived and I had my own room.It was very nice.I tike nursing
more than I ever thought I would.I think I'll always work oil nursing in the future. Wherever I live,
there's sure to be a hospital and there's always a job for a nurse.

Emily Urich 18 years old Canada
A lot of teens aren't responsible(有责任感的),and that's where I'm different. Not just about school
but everyday things like being able to pay my own credit card(信用卡)bills on time.
The first time I got a cartoon book was on my third birthday. From then on , I fell in deep love with it.
And can you guess how many cartoon books I've read? I don't really know the exact number. But I
have three full boxes of them under my bed. I also like drawing cartoons and wish to be an art teacher
in a sch001.
Joe Miller 16 year's old America
I'm proud of doing things my own way. So whether somebody wants me to do something or whatever
it is , I feel like they're all other people's thoughts , not really mine. But like others , I love reading , too.
When I first took skiing lessons , I found it exciting. For ski racing, there's no question I'm better shape
than most guys(小伙子). I think it's fun. I mean,it is a challenge(挑战). It's where I picked up the idea
of needing a challenge always in my life. In order to improve my skiing skills,I have read many books
and magazines about it. No doubt it's my dream to win gold medals in the Olympic Games.

I never wanted a dog, but now I'm so glad I have one.
About one year ago, my wife, Mary, got a little dog with a face only a mother could love. We named
her Baby.
Baby is the kind of dog that has to grow on you. So I decided that the dog would be trained. This didn't
quite go as planned. At 15 weeks old, she was nearly made to leave the Petsmart Training School. She spent
every night lying in our bed-snoring (打鼾) so loudly that I hardly got a good night's sleep.
Then, about six months after she arrived, I felt that something in my heart was taking place, and I was
unable to stop it. My behavior (行为方式) began to change. I began to smile at people when passing them
in a street. I returned from neighbors. I started calling my kids and, to my surprise, they started calling me.
I even tried to speak to my grandchildren over the phone once. I even was glad to listen to laughter from a
10-month-old granddaughter. The point is that I was changing.
My wife and I both agree that it is Baby who has changed my behavior.
Baby is now nearly one year old and almost fully grown. I have come to like the pet little by little, though
she is my wife's dog.
1. What did the man think of the dog at the beginning?
A. It wasn't very lovely.
B. It looked very beautiful.
C. It wasn't necessary to be trained.
D. It could change his life.
2. When did the man's behavior begin to change?
A. About one year ago.
B. When Baby was nearly one year old.
C. When Baby was 15 weeks old.
D. About six months after Baby arrived.
3. Which of the following is NOT mentioned about the man's change?
A. He began to smile at people.
B. He liked helping his neighbors.
C. He started calling his kids.
D. He spoke to his grandchildren over the phone.
4. What can we learn from this passage?
A. The dog has been trained very well.
B. The man has become more confident (自信的).
C. The man has become more friendly.
D. The man likes the dog better than his wife.
