Started in 1636, Harvard University is the oldest of all the colleges and universities in the United States. Yale and Columbia were opened soon after Harvard.

In the earlier years these schools were nearly the same. Only young men went to college. All the students studied the same subjects, and everyone learned Latin and Greek. A farmer had a cow. He took very good care of this cow and one day when it was ill, he was very worried. He telephoned the vet.
