There are 340 different species of birds, and almost 2000 kilometres of coastline, with some of the most beautiful beaches in Asia. The most exciting place to visit is Tianya-haijiao beach, to the southwest of Sanya. Tianya-haijiao means "the end of the sky and the corner of the sea". Here you will find amazing rocks, some of them five metres high. On the rocks, you will see carvings of Chinese characters, Tianya (the end of the sky), Haijiao (the corner of the sea), Nantianyizhu (a pillar stands up in the southern sky), and Haipannantian (the sea judges the southern sky). The Tianya sunrise and the Haijiao sunset are really astonishing. Ancient poets stood on the stones and looked at the blue sky and sea. Now you can do the same thing! | ||||||||||||||||
