On the first day of the eighth grade,I waited at the stop for the school bus. When it arrived,I got on and said hello to the bus driver,Mr Rolland. Then I noticed one little girl called Amy. She was different from everyone else on the bus. "Don't talk to Amy," warned Lauren, who sat beside me. "Or everybody will make fun of you."

Amy had many physical differences―her eyes weren't straight, her glasses were an inch thick, and she had really uneven teeth. Every day as we rode to and from school, kids would shout insults at Amy.

"God,what a strange face!Stop looking at me!" "Mr Rolland!Amy took off her glasses, and now her eyes are scaring me. Make her put them back on!" they would say. For a while I shouted my share of insults, just to fit in. After all,I didn't want the other kids to treat me the same way they did to Amy. But while I was insulting her,my heart ached for the girl.

I began to pity her. Then I wanted to stand up for her. I just didn't know how to stop my schoolmates until the night of our class rollerskating party. Our whole class was there, including Amy. Amy didn't know how to skate, but I could see how much she wanted to have fun like the rest of us. So I skated over to her and took her by the hand. I slowly pulled her away from the wall, and together we began around the skating ring. I never said a word to her,and she never spoke to me. She just smiled and every once in a while she would laugh in excitement.

On the school bus the next morning there was much news about Amy and me skating together. But nobody insulted her any more. When the school year ended,my family moved away. And I never heard from Amy again. But I've always hoped that I changed her life for the better.

In fact, she changed my life. After becoming her friend,I no longer tried to impress people by trying to act like them or dress like them. I became myself.

In high school, the last year may be the most difficult but also the most important. Students are encouraged to work even harder and consider the universities they want to go to. In fact, working hard in that year has a great influence on which universities they will enter after they graduate from high school.

In the first term of my last year in high school,I did a good job on my study. I got up early every day and never left my homework until the last minute, and had a great amount of confidence to finish my high school with good grades. In my notebook I wrote down the grades I aimed to get;I often looked at them to encourage myself. I took part in tests online every day and went to the teachers for help regularly. I also had my elder sister help me with my English. My grades were getting better and better and I really finished the first term with great grades.

However,I did not keep my outstanding performance in the second term before my graduation. I tried playing a game on the Internet when I was bored one day. Gradually,I spent more and more time playing online games, because I was addicted to them. Therefore,I went to bed late, copied my classmates' homework often and could hardly learn anything. My final grades were surely not as great as I expected.

When I did graduate,I decided not to go to the graduation ceremony (毕业典礼) ,not for the grades I finally achieved, but for the idea that I wouldn't be comfortable if I were asked to receive my diploma        (文凭) in front of my classmates, teachers, parents and guests. At last,I stayed at home and played computer games instead of going to the ceremony.

It has been many years since I graduated from high school. Even now,I still regret (后悔) not working hard in the last term in high school and not going to my graduation ceremony.
