Gravitational Waves (引力波)

Scientist Albert Einstein thought of the idea of gravitational waves more than 100 years ago. But it was in September that people finally found them by using LIGO . Three US scientists, Rainer Weiss, Barry C. Barish and Kip S. Thorne, won the 2017 Nobel Prize in Physics because of their discovery of gravitational waves which allow scientists to look at the space in a new way.

International Writer 2017 NOBEL PRIZE IN LITERATURE

He has an Asian face. He writes in English. And he writes stories happening in different places across the world.

Kazuo Ishiguro ( 石墨一雄) a Japanese --born English writer, won the 2017 Nobel Prize in Literature because his novels remind us of how international the world is . In his first book, A Pale view of Hills, Ishiguro tells a story of a middle aged Japanese woman living alone in England. But then he went much further. When We were orphans sets the story in Shanghai. The Remains of the day tells an English butler (管家) recalling his days during the World War II. Of course, he has many other excellent books.

Clock in your body

Have you ever heard of the word” biological clock”? For many years, people have known there is a clock inside plants, animal and humans. However, nobody knows how this clock actually works. In the 1980s, three US scientists , Jeffrey C. Hall, Michael Rosbash and Michael W. Young, found a gene(基因) that controls the clock. They found the biological clock influences people’s sleep, body temperature and so on, and the environment also influences the clock.
