American schools give a high priority (优先)to sports , clubs and activities . The two major sports for American students are football and basketball . Schools may sell “spirit” shirt to wear to inter-school competitions and raise money .

There are also some cultural groups such as music groups , marching bands and debate teams .

6 Conclusion

There are some differences between schools in the US and Hong Kong , but the schools in these two places have one common goal: to provide an enjoyable learning environment for students .

【题目】 After sitting in a wheelchair for tens of years, Stephen William Hawking, one of the greatest scientists in this age, died in March 2018. Hundreds of thousands of people showed their love and admiration (敬佩) for Hawk.

Although he made a great contribution (贡献) to science, he was not special at all when he was young. From the school report in Hawking’s childhood, he made no difference with common children, or even worse. Once, his mom asked him, “Darling, are you really weak at study?” He felt embarrassed and answered, “Em... the others are the same.”

He was not born in a rich family which could offer him expensive car or large house, however, his parents insisted (坚持) that children needed to read more books. It made Hawking a thoughtful and knowledgeable person.

After he got sick seriously, people thought he might die at any time. Unexpectedly, he lived another 50 years and continued his world-shaking discoveries. At the same time, Hawking lived a colorful life. He liked to hang out, such as celebrating his birthday in a hot air balloon, diving (潜水) to enjoy views in the deep sea, and so on. He never got tired of playing roles in movies and series and traveled around the world to give talks. He even signed up an account (账户) on Weibo in China and talked with youths.

Hawking’s three children see their father as this: He is as curious (好奇的) as children who have interest in the outside world. He encourages questions from his children, even the ones that sound very stupid. He is aggressive (进取的). He never stops searching for subjects he likes and makes a great effort for them. He is fun. From his mouth; difficult astrophysics (天体物理学) turns fresh and alive. That is a real Hawking.
