     Many children act in TV shows. They work several hours every day, so they can not go to regular (正规)
school. How do they get an education(教育)?
     In Hollywood many TV shows are made. About forty teachers give lessons for the children in the shows.
They teach wherever their pupils are working. The teachers' job is very important. They are responsible for
(负责) making sure that the children work only the permitted (限制) hours each week. They are also
responsible for making sure that children learn the required (需要) subjects. They make sure, too, that the
children get enough rest and play, along with their education.
     Child actors are required to attend classes twenty hours each week. California law(法律) says they must
be taught from September to June. If they do not make much progress in school, they are not permitted to
continue (继续) working in TV shows. TV children are usually good pupils, and most of their teachers like this
special kind of work. Their classes are held in some wonderful places. Sometimes the"classroom" is a
Mississippi riverboat. Sometimes it is the inside of a spaceship. Often the pupils become famous stars.

     Ma Hua graduated from Fudan University. He had a good career in IT and a great life in Shanghai,
but he felt there was something missing from his life. He wanted to help others to improve their lives, so
in March 2003 he gave up his job. Then he moved to south-west China to do voluntary work in a village
primary school.

     Ma Yan is not really a writer. But this 15-year-old girl has written a book that has moved many
people around the world. "Ma Yan's Diary" tells us about Ma's life. She lives in a poor village called
Zhangjiashu in Tongxin, Ningxia, and she has no money to go to school. But she is brave and has a
strong desire(欲望)to go to school.
     Her mother gave her diary to a French reporter, Pierre Haski when he went to Zhangjisshu in 2001.
Now, it has been published in France Italy, Germany, Japan and China.
     Ma is now a Junior Three student at Yuwang Middle School in Tongxin. Before this, she had to leave
school twice. When she had to stop going to school the first time, her mum told her there was no money
