Aftershock , a movie about the 1976 Tangshan earthquake has made a new Chinese box office record since its opening on July 22, 2010 .

The movie’s director , Feng Xiaogang , one of Chine’s most successful directors , was pleased with the box office result .

Aftershock is about a mother’s 30-year life journey . She had to give up her daughter during the quake . She thought her daughter was lost in the earthquake .
