题目内容

【题目】 Do you enjoy reading and learning poetry (诗歌)? April is National Poetry Month in the United States. Children all over the world also learn about poetry at school.

When I was young we learned about lots of different poets. Poetry comes in many different forms (形式). I like how it can be used to express serious feelings, or just be something that makes you happy.

Bush poetry, a special Australian style of poetry, is my favorite.

Bush poets write about life in rural (乡村的) Australia. They write about all the things that make Australia different from other countries.

One of the most famous bush poets is Andrew Banjo Patterson. He wrote his poems about 100 years ago. His poem called The Man From Snowy River is one of the most famous Australian poems. It is about a great man who was very good at riding horses. You can search for the poem online and see if you like it or not.

One of my friends enjoyed reading poems by another Australian poet named Bruce Dawe. Dawe writes poems about what it is like to live in Australia today.

My friends in the US and England also learned poetry at school. Famous US poets include Robert Frost and Edgar Allan Poe, while English students learn about William Shakespeare and John Keats.

Most poets are very interesting, inspiring (热情的) or unusual people. It is fun to learn about their lives and personalities. By doing that you can get a better understanding of their poems. Sound interesting? You can research these poets and find out more for yourself.

【题目】Dear Dad,

Today I was at the shopping centre and I spent a lot of time reading the Father's Day cards. But as I chose and read, it seemed that not a single card said what I really wanted to say to you.

You'll soon be 84 years old, Dad, and you and I will have had 56 Father's Days together. I didn't think that you were too old. But the sad thing happened last week. I watched as you turned at the corner in your car. I didn't realize at once that it was you because the man who was driving looked so elderly.

Fifty years ago this spring, we planted carrots together in a garden in Charles City, Iowa. This week, we'll plant carrots together again, perhaps for the last time but I hope not. I don't understand why planting carrots with you is so important to me. Well, I don't quite know how to tell you this, dad. I don't like carrots…but I like planting them with you.

I guess what I am trying to say is exactly what every son and daughter wants to say to their dad today. Praising(赞扬) a father on Father's Day is not just about a dad who brings home money or shares a dinner. It's also about a dad who deeply loves children. He knows everything about his children and won't listen to anyone. It's about love that can't be expressed(表达) in words, and I wish that it would never end.
