Elizabeth Blackwell was born in England in 1821 , and moved to New York City when she was ten years old . One day she decided that she wanted to become a doctor . Many centuries ago, Scotland was ruled by a king named Robert Bruce. He was a wise king and a brave soldier. When the English army invaded (入侵) Scotland, Bruce took up arms and led his people in defence of (保卫)his country.

Battle after battle was fought, Bruce led his little army against the enemy, and six times his men were beaten.
