If you're ready to add more physical activity to your life, here are some tips.

Make physical activity part of your routine(惯例), like brushing your teeth or going to work. Try bicycling to work at least once a week, using the stairs more often, or walking to some places near home. But talk to your doctor before you start an exercise routine, especially if you haven't been very active or have health problems.

Walking is one of the best fitness activities. To keep up a routine, you can walk with family members, friends or pets. Count your steps with a step counter(计数器). You can buy one at a sporting goods store. If you don't have time for one 30-minute walk, break it into three 10 minute w-alks.

Find an activity that you enjoy, and stay with it. Change it with other activities so you don't get bored. For example, walk three days a week, and swim or bike on the other days. Join a volleyball or basketball club for fun and exercise. By finding more activities you enjoy, you'll have a greater chance for success.

Mary loved her son Robert very much, but she worried about him a lot. He was always losing things, and he didn’t take care of his toys or clothes. She wanted him to be more careful. She wanted him to be responsible.

One morning, Mary saw Robert beating a broken drum with a knife. “Stop!” Mary shouted. “Where are your drumsticks(鼓槌)?” “I …I …I don’t know.” said Robert.

“You must remember what I have told you, Robert,” said Mary. “If you lose anything again, I will give away all your toys to the children who know how to take care of them.”

“But, Mama,” said Robert. “ 73 “If I don’t have any toys, how can I learn to take care of them?” Mary had to turn away so that Robert would not see her smile. “I’ve got another way to teach you to be careful,” she told him. “I want you to wash your clothes for two months. If you can do this, it means you are responsible, and it means people can trust you.”

The next week Robert began his work. At first, he disliked it very much. But after a while he changed his mind. He wanted to show his mother he was responsible. 74 He not only washed his clothes, but also kept his toys in a box where he could find him. He was careful with everything.

Two months later, Christmas came. Robert was so happy to get his presents: a new coat, a video game and a new drum. There was also a note. “For Robert, who is very responsible.” He felt so proud.

I am Alice. My sister and I spent our last summer holidays with our uncle who is a geologist (地质学家) and loves to collect stones.

One day he bought us two backpacks and asked us to go to the mountain with him. We walked the whole day. Every now and then he put stones in our backpacks. To our surprise, he also took some stones out from them. But we thought he had just found better stones.

When we returned to the house, we were very tired. The backpacks were so heavy that we felt relief (轻松)when we took them off. Yet our uncle’s backpack was half empty.

"Why did you give us so many stones?” we asked.

"I didn’t. You did." he said. “You didn't know it, but I gave you a little attitude(态度) test today. I listened to every word you said. Whenever you were complaining (抱怨) , I added a stone to your backpacks. whenever you talked about something with positive (积极的) thinking, I took out a stone. And now look at your backpacks."

Our backpacks were full of stones.

“Your negative( 消极的) thoughts are just like stones. You carry them in your mind just like those stones in your backpacks. The mote negative thoughts you have, the heavier your mind will be.” said our uncle.
