Long long ago,there lived a very cruel sultan．Sultan ruled his kingdom with an iron fist(铁拳)．Everyone in the land did exactly what sultan ordered．The kingdom’s prisons(监狱) were full of people who had not done what the sultan had ordered．

As the sultan’s next birthday came,everyone was too afraid to get up and face the day．Luckily, most people had nothing to worry about except Ali and Baboo, for they were told to go before the sultan．They were told to take part in a camel race．The winner of the race was the person whose camel came last．The loser would get five years in prison．

Ali and Baboo came to the starting line of the race and set off,but very very slowly．Neither man wanted to go in front of the other．So before long their camels stopped．They had no idea．

The kingdom’s wisest person, a woman named Shiraz, came to the two men．She whispered something in each other’s ear．Then each man leaped (跳跃) on a camel and rode the camels--faster and faster．They raced towards the finish line as quickly as they could．

Everyone was surprised at what was happening．One man asked Shiraz what she had told the camel riders．“Simple,”she said,“I just told each of them to get on the other man’s camel．After all, the winner is the person whose camel comes last．”
