More than that, St Andrews is Scotland's first university and one of the oldest universities in the English-speaking world. Founded in 1413 (just after Oxford and Cambridge), over 6 hundred years, the university has been well known as one of Europe's leading and most distinctive(有特色的) centers for teaching and research.
