Disneyland in Shanghai

Built from 2011, Shanghai Disneyland is the sixth Disneyland Park in the world, and the first one on the Chinese mainland (大陆). Like other Disneyland parks, the one in Shanghai will have Disney characters and stories. But it will also have new attractions designed for Chinese people. It will open to the public in June, 2016.

Enchanted Storybook Castle (奇幻童话城堡)

Located at the heart of the theme park, the Enchanted Storybook Castle will be the tallest and largest Disney castle yet. Inside the castle, there are spaces for entertainment, dining and performance. There you can meet all the Disney princesses.

Treasure Cove (宝藏湾)

This is the first pirates-themed (海盗主题的) land in a Disney park. The land will have a major attraction, which is a high-technology boat ride attraction. The attraction will bring visitors along a pirate adventure. Are you ready to jump on the boat?

Garden of the Twelve Friends

In almost every other Disneyland park around the world, there is a “Main Street, USA” at the entrance. But Shanghai Disneyland Park is the first without that attraction. Instead, it has the Garden of the Twelve Friends. Each friend stands for the 12 animal signs using famous Disney characters.

Toy Story Hotel

Living experience is also fun inside the park. Toy Story Hotel has the characters of the film Toy Story. There are about 800 rooms for visitors to stay. In the restaurant of the hotel, you may se characters walking around and take photos with them.

Our trip to the Mining Museum

On Tuesday 4th April, we took a bus to travel to the Mining (矿业) Museum because we had learning about the Gold Rushes.

When we arrived at the Mining Museum, we were taken to a room where we stored our bags. Our guide, Alison, then introduced us to a man named Bruce Binkley who is a miner.

Mr. Binkley talked to us about how people used to look for gold. __【2】__ . It seemed simple. You get a pan, fill it with dirt and water and then swirl (旋动) it around until the big stones are washed out along with other things. Gold, being heavier, is left at the bottom.

Next, we walked upstairs to look at pictures, information and samples (样品) of gold. We filled in a worksheet about the early discoveries of gold in Australia. ___【3】_. That part was really exciting because you had to imagine that you were a miner digging for gold.

Lunch was spent in a nearby park. ___【4】__. They were yummy! We also played hide-and-seek while we were there.

__【5】___. We boarded the bus and felt very tired. Some children even slept on the bus!

It was an enjoyable trip to the Mining Museum.
