Lao Tzu was said to be from the state of Chu between 571 B. C. and 471 B. C. His real name was Li Erh. He was a great philosopher and thinker inChina's history.
Lao Tzu wrote the famous Tao Te Ching. He believed that the universe has an inherent order ( " Tao ¡± or " the way " ) - It is best to follow it £¬ not to challenge it. He advocated "wu-wei ¡±£¬ which meant " non-action ¡±. That theory may have its value. But we simply can neither prove nor disprove it. His ideas had a great influence on the development of Chinese philosophy as well as society and politics.
