While the country's leader has encouraged(鼓励)people to work hard and dream big, some young Chinese are happily resigned to being ordinary(甘于平凡). It is clearly against the dream of the nation greatly. These young people are called "Buddhist Youth(佛系青年)", and they have held a lazy lifestyle. It is not accepted by most people anywhere.

"Life is quite tiring," said 23-year-old Guo Jia, who believes being a Buddhist Youth means accepting the things you cannot change and going with the flow. In fact, this name has nothing to do with religion(宗教). These people do something similarly, such as eating the same food every day, allowing their friends and relatives to make all the decisions, and showing no strong feelings about almost everything. They want nothing because they expect(期待)nothing.

As for me, I can't agree with their idea. I think we need to live with a clear purpose(目标)and dream. Only in this way can we live a meaningful life. The value(价值)we live to the people around us is important. So work hard and go up to the place that you can get to. Sunny days will welcome you every morning.

Pressure(压力)from the society is necessary. It can surely push us to learn more and become abler. That is the truth of life!

To Test Your wings

“We have to let him try it, Lila,” I said to my wife. “Cant you see that?”

“But how will he_______on his own?”

“He'll make it.”

“But he can't see, he's blind!”

“I know it.”

Of course I knew it. I'm Andy's father, aren't I? But I also knew how much it hurt Lila to say that. It was years before I heard her accept it. She knew it and had been told it over and over by all the_______at the hospitals we had taken Andy to when we were still hoping during the early years.

“Lila,” I tried again, "he's nineteen years old. He's clever. He's ambitious. He's _______-he believes in himself. He wants to try things on his own. We've given him what we can. We have to let him go.”

“But why does he have to_______a college halfway across the country?”

“Because he wants to test his wings.”

“That's all very well,” she continued to protest(抗议), “but he cannot see. How do we now he can fly on his own?”

“I think he can,” I said softly. “And we have to let him ________ He'll come back sometimes.” We were both silent for a while.

“Remember Gertie, the bird we saved?” I asked.

“Yes,” Lila nodded.“ I remember Gertie.”

“ And we let her use her wings, didn't we?”

Lila _______ again.

“Even though it had broken her wing; even though you wanted to hold onto her; even though she was disabled too in a way, and we were_______she might not make it, we still let her test her wings.”

“Yes.”

“And she did come back, didn't she? Not only that spring, but for several springs, and a couple of falls, too.”

“But never to stay.”

“No. Never to stay,” I agreed. “And that's the_______it is with children too, once they're grown and gone.”

There were tears in Lila's eyes again, but her voice was firm(坚定的) as she stood up.

“Let's go find Andy. We'll tell him he can go and test his wings.”
