What is your favorite color? Do you like yellow, orange and red? You do, you must be a person full of hopeful(充满希望的) happy feelings about life. Do you like gray and blue? Then maybe you are quiet, and you would rather go after than go before. And sometimes you feel unhappy. If you love green, you are strong-minded. 25.You wish to do everything well and want other people to see you are successful. At least this is what psychologists (心理学者) tell us. They tell us that we don’t choose our favorite color as we grow up. If you happen to love brown, you did so as soon as you opened your eyes, or at least as soon as you could see clearly.

A yellow room makes us feel happier and more comfortable(舒适)than a dark green one; and a red dress brings warmth and gladness to the saddest winter day.26.Light and bright colors make people not only happier but more active. It is a fact that factory workers work better, harder, and have few accidents when their machines are painted (漆) orange rather than black or dark gray. Remember, then, that if you feel low, you can brighten your day or your life with a new shirt or new colorful things. Remember also that you will know your friends better when you find out what colors they like or dislike. And don’t forget that anyone can guess a lot about your character (性格) when you choose something in different colors.

19.These days,the food that you buy comes from lots of different countries.When you go to the supermarket,you will see some kinds of fruits and vegetables you have never seen before.Have a look in your kitchen,fridge,cupboard and fruit bowl and check where the food comes from.Perhaps there are apples from California,lamb from New Zealand,or potatoes from Egypt.You will probably be surprised how far food travels to get to your plate.This journey,from field to plate,is called food miles.A food mile is the distance that food travels from the farmer's field to the person who buys the food.Nowadays,food often travels thousands of miles to get to the consumer(消费者).Why is this,and what are the influences of these long distances?
Traditionally,farmers sold their food in the local market,so the food didn't have to travel very far.The consumers also did not travel very far because they went to their local market to buy the food.This was a good system for farmers and consumers.However,there were some disadvantages.For example,consumers could only buy food that farmers produced locally.In addition,they could only get food that was in season.Now,because of modern technology,food comes from all over the world.We do not have to wait for spring or summer to buy strawberries or tomatoes.They are available in winter if we want.
Some countries have to import(进口) most of their food.This is because they have difficult climates.The United Arab Emirates(UAE),for example,gets 85% of its food from other countries.Even food made in the UAE often uses imported materials.
What's wrong with food miles?Is this not a good way of increasing international trade?I believe these miles are worrying for a number of reasons.First of all,because food travels such long distances,we need more planes,trucks,and ships to move the food.This means we use more oil or gas,so there is more pollution and more global warming.In addition,food that travels a long way is not fresh and usually not very tasty.Tomatoes,for example,are picked early and stored for their long journeys.For this reason,they are usually tasteless when they get to the consumer.Local food has a better taste,and it also reduces(减少) the amount of global pollution.We need to buy more local food.

6.There are a number of ways to help improve your memory,so you shouldn't feel upset.
My first advice is that if you want to remember something well,you have to review it regularly(有规律的).You might go over the material two days after you learn it,then a week later,then two weeks later,and then a month later.After a month you will find that ①you can easily remember the material.
My second advice is to use a colored pen to highlight(标识记号)the important parts on your book.This will help you in two ways.First,it will help you concentrate(集中注意力)on the most important parts when you learn the knowledge.It is always easier to remember only the key points.Second,this will make reviewing easier.When you open your book,the colored parts will show you the most important things at once.In this way,you don't have to go over all the materials again.
Another piece of advice is to go over all the information in your mind just before you go to sleep.Your brain(大脑)is working ②在你睡着的时候.If you think about the information before you go to sleep,you might be able to remember it better.Another good time for memorizing information is in the morning because you have just rested and your brain is fresh and clear.So you might also try to memorize the important information in the morning.

On May 23, Shenzhen introduced new rules in order to prevent the “Chinese style of crossing the road”. “Chinese people cross roads without thinking about traffic lights, so long as they are part of a group of people,” said a post on Sina Weibo.

A CCTV news program showed that in only an hour, more than 600 people jumped red lights when crossing a road in Shijiazhuang, Hebei.

Many people say that they jaywalk(乱穿马路) because the red light lasts too long. Such an opinion is supported by a research(研究)group at Tongji University. The team did research on people’s waiting times at different road crossings for three years. They found that Chinese people would wait for 70 to 90 seconds before they lost their patience. “People are likely to ignore(忽视) the light when the waiting time is longer than they can bear,” said Ni Ying, a member of the research team.

However, a survey on Sina Weibo suggested that people jaywalk mainly because they ignore rules. “I always obey traffic rules. Time is important but safety should come first,” someone wrote on his Weibo.

Many countries give out punishments to jaywalkers. In Singapore, the maximum can be three months in prison(监狱). Some Chinese cities have started taking some actions, too. For example, the first three people in a jaywalking group will be fined 50 yuan in Shijiazhuang.

But calling on people to obey rules is more important. To completely solve the problem, everyone should understand the importance of obeying the traffic rules.

4.To solve the problem of jaywalking, the writer suggests that we should __________.
