One possible version:          
     One day, Tom helped his parents to work in the  garden behind his house. Suddenly it began to rain 
and soon it rained heavily. Just then Tom saw a poor bird sitting in a tree and it was wet all over.
Tom wanted to help it. He ran home quickly and made a  small wooden house. After that he ran back
and put the small house on a branch. When the bird saw the  house, it quickly flew into it. Tom felt very 
happy.
