The World Wide Web（www.万维网）turned 25 years old on March 12th. It has become a very important part in our daily lives. We can’t imagine living without the web, the short form of the World Wide Web.
In 1989, a British engineer named Tim Berners-Lee came up with the idea of the Web. It is a group of “pages” of information that are connected to each other around the world. But La La Land , a new musical by US director Damien Chazelle , 32 , has made the genre（类型） popular again . “Brilliantly written and directed , La La Land gives movie musicals life in the 21st century ,”Peter Travers wrote for Rolling Stone.
Starring（主演） US actor Ryan Gosling, 36, and actress Emma Stone, 28, the movie was released in Chinese mainland on Feb 14. Set in the colourful world of Hollywood’s film and music scene , the two characters – a jazz musician and an actress – sing and dance their way to love.
It has made history as the first film to win seven Golden Globe awards. It has also been nominated（提名） for a record-equaling 14 Oscars.
Other popular movies of today are often about violence（暴力）, war , drugs（毒品） or politics（政治） . Thanks to Chazelle’s creative style , original music and wonderful lacation, La La Land has a light feel that will put you in a good mood.
The opening scene , when hundreds of people in a traffic jam start singing , “ will be studied and swooned（着迷） over for years to come,”according to Travers. “The very fact that it doesn’t have a strong political message , but is still good enough to win awards , is what makes La Lan Land so unusual ,”Nicholas Barber , wrote for the BBC . “It is intimate（亲切的） and personal and magical.”

Millions of people across China will crowd onto trains and buses next February, hurrying home to be with their families for the country’s most important holidays, Lunar New Year, or the Spring Festival. February 15 marks the end of the Year of the Rooster and the beginning of the Year of the Dog.
History of the Holiday
According to an ancient legend, Buddha（佛祖）asked all the animals to meet him on Lunar New Year. Twelve animals came, and Buddha named a year after each one.
The Year of Good Luck
Buddha announced that people born in each animal’s year would have some of that animal’s personality. If you were born in 1970, 1982, 1994 or 2006, you were born in the year of the Dog. In ancient times, the dog is considered the best symbol for honesty and loyalty（忠诚）. People who were born in these years are believed to be honest, brave and filled with good luck and strength. They are said to get along best with people born under the year of the Tiger, Rat or Horse.
Festivals, Lions and Feasts（筵席）
On Lunar New Year’s Eve, the Chinese celebrate with fireworks, family gatherings and festivals. One of the most popular ways to celebrate the holiday is with the lion dance. During celebrations, dancers dressed as lions perform. The dancers are supposed to bring good luck to people. People often wear red. Legend has it that red can drive away bad luck.
The 15-day New Year season is celebrated with firecrackers, dragon dances and visits to friends and family. The celebrations end with the Lantern Festival, when brightly colored lamps are hung in parks around China.
