At a quarter to six, Mrs. Alison heard her husband park the car outside the house and at once went out to the front door.
“What’s the matter?” he asked. “You look worried.”
“I made a big mistake, Jim,” she said. “Mrs. Johnson called me about half an hour ago. I asked her and her husband to come and have dinner with us this evening.”
“Well, that’s good,” Mr. Alison said. “We should have a good time together. We haven’t seen them for a long time.”

“Steak?” Mr. Alison said, “Oh, dear! I remember now. I got some. It’s in my car. It has been there for the past three days!”
