Staying with a friend or family member is a great way to save some money when you travel. But how can you be a great guest(客人)?
Be clear about who is going with you.
Don't say, "I'd like to come for a visit" if you mean, you'd better say, "I'd like to visit with my husband and two kids."
Keep an eye on your things.
Don't make your friend's home like staying in a hotel. When you're not in your room, you should make it clean and tidy as usual.
Watch you children.
Before traveling, talk to your kids about their manners(礼仪). Let them know what they should do and should not do.
Don't wish your hostess(女主人)to do all the work.
She may not want you to buy things or give some help at dinner time, but it's important to help her do some housework, like washing a few dishes or cleaning the table after dinner.
Bring or send a thank-you gift and follow up with a note.
The gift needn't to be expensive. If you don't have time to shop, take the family to dinner to show thanks. When you get home, send a quick note to let them know how much you enjoy your stay.

The car was invented just a hundred years ago. You may know all kinds of the cars' names, but many people don' t know who was the inventor of the first car. The first car was invented by an American. His name was Henry Ford.
Henry was born in a poor family. He was the oldest of six children. When he was a boy, he became interested in watches and machines. When he was twelve years old, his mother died. Soon he had to work in a machine shop for two dollars and fifty cents(美分)a week. In the evening he repaired watches for another dollar a week. The hard life made him strong and able. He wished to make a machine. It could run without a horse, so named horseless carriage. He worked hard and in April, 1893, the "horseless carriage"(无马马车)was invented at last. It was the first car. So Henry Ford was really the inventor of the first car in the world.
